On the afternoon of May 20, a press conference to introduce the Vietnam Pickleball Championship - Hyundai Thanh Cong Cup 2025 took place in Hanoi .

Speaking at the press conference, journalist Phung Cong Suong - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong newspaper , Head of the organizing committee, said the tournament marked an important turning point in the system of sports tournaments initiated and organized by Tien Phong newspaper and Tien Phong Joint Stock Company.

According to journalist Phung Cong Suong, Pickleball is a new sport in Vietnam but has been attracting the sports-loving community thanks to its flexibility, accessibility and suitability for many ages. With a unique combination of elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis, Pickleball brings a sport experience that is both exciting and close, easy to play but still requires tactics and good coordination between players.

The special thing that makes Pickleball increasingly popular is the spirit of community connection. Regardless of age, gender or level, Pickleball players can quickly integrate, connect and create cohesive values through sports.

In addition, Pickleball has also been shown by many studies around the world to have mental and physical health benefits that this sport brings to players such as helping to improve concentration and cognition, reduce depression levels, support muscle strength and improve cardiovascular health.

“During its 72-year development, Tien Phong Newspaper – the Central Agency of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union – has initiated and co-organized many large-scale sports tournaments of national stature and has been continuously maintained until today. These include the Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long-distance Championship, the National Football Super Cup, the National Golf Championship, the Tien Phong Golf Championship – For Young Vietnamese Talents, and most recently the Tien Phong Golf Championship – One Country.

Regardless of the location, sports tournaments initiated and co-organized by Tien Phong newspaper not only contribute to discovering and nurturing talents for the country's sports, but also leave cultural and social imprints, promoting the local economy.

Vietnam Pickleball Tournament - Hyundai Thanh Cong Cup 2025 is scheduled to take place from July 4-6 in Ho Chi Minh City, with two competitions: Professional and Amateur.

“We are committed to organizing the tournament in a professional, transparent and inspiring manner – from operations, refereeing, to communications and athlete experience – to create a new standard for future Pickleball tournaments,” emphasized journalist Phung Cong Suong.
