Focus on responding to the risk of landslides, flash floods and localized flooding

Water level on Lo River in Tuyen Quang City is rising due to heavy rain.

According to the meteorological department's report, from the night of May 22 to the morning of May 23, there was moderate to heavy rain in the province, with some places experiencing very heavy rain such as Phuc Yen commune (255mm), Tuyen Quang city (140mm), Thanh Tuong commune (133mm). It is forecasted that heavy rain will continue until the end of May 24 with common rainfall ranging from 60-130mm, with some places over 220mm.

To proactively and effectively respond, the Provincial People's Committee requests:

The Department of Agriculture and Environment closely coordinates with the provincial Hydrometeorological Station to closely monitor weather developments, provide warnings, and provide timely information to people; guide localities on response plans and overcome the consequences of natural disasters; review and handle incidents at irrigation works and dams.

The Department of Construction reviews plans to ensure safety for the traffic and construction infrastructure system; proactively and quickly overcome locations cut off by landslides and flooding, ensuring smooth traffic.

The Provincial Military Command and Provincial Police proactively mobilize forces and means to be ready to support people in evacuating, rescuing and overcoming consequences when situations arise.

Localities must absolutely not interrupt the direction and operation work while implementing the arrangement of administrative units; strictly implement previous instructions in documents 2138/UBND-KT and 2288/UBND-KT.

Media agencies, especially Tuyen Quang Newspaper and the provincial Radio and Television Station, need to increase the updating of forecasting and warning information and provide guidance on disaster response skills to raise people's awareness and proactiveness.

The Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches, sectors and localities to urgently and synchronously deploy measures to prevent and combat natural disasters, to ensure the safety of people's lives and property and minimize damage caused by floods.
