Van Don and Cat Bi ports temporarily suspend flights from 11pm tonight

On the afternoon of July 21, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam decided to temporarily stop receiving aircraft at Cat Bi (Hai Phong) and Van Don (Quang Ninh) due to being in the area affected by storm No. 3.

Van Don and Cat Bi airports will stop flights from 11pm on July 21 to 12am on July 22. All flights will be canceled and passengers will be rescheduled after the airports reopen.

Authorities at Noi Bai and Tho Xuan airports ( Thanh Hoa ) are also monitoring meteorological reports to plan appropriate operations.

At the storm prevention meeting on the afternoon of September 21, representatives of several airports in the affected area reported plans to move aircraft to safe places, reinforce and brace structures and ground equipment to respond to all situations.

Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Authority Ho Minh Tan requested units to review and agree on an action plan to ensure absolute safety for flight operations, passengers, aircraft, equipment and infrastructure at airports.

Airports are required to focus resources on preventing the impact of storms on the technical infrastructure of the port and aircraft on the apron, paying special attention to the condition of the airport drainage system to ensure flood avoidance.

Due to the impact of storm No. 3, on July 21, Vietnam Airlines canceled 5 flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong, Vietjet Air canceled 8 flights to and from Quang Ninh and Hai Phong. On July 22, Vietnam Airlines Group flights operating at Cat Bi airport will depart after 12 hours. Many domestic and international flights on July 21-22 will be affected.
