| Tax officials guide taxpayers on using the Etax Mobile application. |
Accordingly, individuals impersonating tax authorities send invitations requesting taxpayers to come in for questioning and provide important information such as: citizen identification cards, business registration certificates, tax registration certificates, related contracts, etc. They also request updating business and personal information into fake links for the purpose of inspection, auditing, or VAT refund, in order to steal taxpayer information.
Counterfeit documents and invitations often lack legal elements, are improperly formatted, and have blurry or unclear seals. The links provided by these individuals have unfamiliar domain names, not those from the official domains of the tax authorities (gdt.gov.vn). The fake websites have interfaces similar to the websites of the General Department of Taxation or other official agencies, but often contain spelling errors, inconsistent layouts, and lack network credibility certifications…
The Provincial Tax Department emphasizes: Tax authorities only work with taxpayers directly at the tax office or through official telephone numbers. Taxpayers should not provide personal information, tax identification numbers, electronic transaction accounts, money, assets, etc., via telephone, email, social media, websites of unknown origin, or other media. If receiving a suspicious call with signs of fraud, taxpayers should save evidence such as text messages or call recordings, report it to the telecommunications company managing the subscriber to request action, and simultaneously provide the evidence to the nearest police and tax authorities to request action against the wrongdoing, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of taxpayers, and the reputation and honor of tax officials and the tax authority.
