Spread the spirit of solidarity

On the day of the program, the atmosphere in the center of Ca Na commune was bustling. At the hall of the commune People's Committee, more than 200 fishermen attentively listened to officers of Coast Guard Squadron 32 propagating and disseminating laws on preventing and combating IUU fishing. After listening to the propaganda, fishing boat owners, captains and crew members signed a commitment not to violate IUU, demonstrating their determination to preserve the reputation of Vietnam's fisheries industry. Also here, Coast Guard Squadron 32 presented 70 gifts (each worth 1 million VND) to fishing families and policy families in difficult circumstances. Fisherman Le Ngoc Phuc shared: "The gifts are a source of encouragement to help my family overcome difficulties, continue to stick to the sea and work with peace of mind."

In addition, 20 students who overcame difficulties and studied well also received meaningful gifts from the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, each worth 1 million VND. The atmosphere of sharing also spread to the Commune Health Center, where 150 fishermen and policy beneficiaries were examined and given free medicine by doctors from the Vietnam-Korea International General Clinic and the medical staff of the 32nd Coast Guard Squadron. After being examined and given medicine, Ms. Dang Thi Thi (70 years old) emotionally said: "I have had cataracts and joint pain for a long time. Today, I am very happy to receive the program of examination, free medicine and treatment advice. This is a very valuable concern, helping us have more faith in life."

At the same time, at Ca Na fishing port, 20 offshore fishing boat owners were also propagandized, signed a commitment not to violate IUU and received meaningful gifts (each gift included a national flag, life jacket, flashlight and 500,000 VND in cash). Mr. Tran Ngoc Ra shared: “We are very happy to have the program to propagandize the law and give gifts. However, the greatest gift is the trust and companionship of the coast guard force. My fellow fishermen and I are determined not to violate IUU, and are always ready to participate in protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland!”.

Join hands to preserve the environment and sovereignty of seas and islands

Not only giving gifts, medical examinations, distributing medicine, etc., the program also expanded its meaning by launching and launching the movement "Join hands to clean the sea". Along the coast around Ca Na fishing port, officers, leaders of agencies, units and hundreds of soldiers of the coast guard, border guards, union members, youth, women, militia and local people spread out to collect waste. Ms. Nguyen Thi Be (Ca Na commune) picked up each plastic bottle and put it in a sack and shared: "Seeing officers, soldiers of the coast guard, border guards and union members, youth picking up trash, we people also enthusiastically participated. Keeping the beach clean and beautiful is not only to attract more tourists , but importantly, to give our children a clean living environment...".

Gifts, medical examinations, new national flags, and clean beaches have left great confidence and pride in the hearts of Ca Na people. Those simple but meaningful images have clearly depicted the spirit of military-civilian solidarity in the coastal area. Not only cleaning the coast together, people and functional forces also tightened their ties and accompanied each other in each journey of going offshore and sticking to the sea. Speaking at the program, Lieutenant Colonel Duong Minh Chau - Deputy Political Commissar of Coast Guard Squadron 32 emphasized: "The series of specific and practical activities in the program aims to help fishermen improve their knowledge of legal fishing. This is also the way we effectively carry out mass mobilization work in the new situation, strengthen military-civilian solidarity, promote combined strength to help people feel secure in going offshore and sticking to the sea, develop the economy and contribute to firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland!".
