A fixed-aperture zoom lens covering 100 to 300mm, this new lens model is an unprecedentedly versatile, lightweight solution for sports , wildlife, and photographers who want to shoot at longer distances at faster speeds.
The RF100-300mm f/2.8L IS USM improves on the EF300mm f/2.8L lens, a classic sports and action photography lens renowned for its superior technology and optical quality.
The fixed aperture design of the RF100-300mm f/2.8L IS USM allows users to take advantage of the maximum f/2.8 aperture across the entire zoom range, even at the 300mm telephoto position. This allows users to capture crucial moments with faster shutter speeds, giving them a better chance of getting the shot they want.
Users can zoom easily to track and maintain focus on moving subjects, such as footballs or birds flying across the frame, even in difficult-to-move locations. |
The smooth, characteristic bokeh effect achieved by shooting at a telephoto aperture of f/2.8 makes the RF100-300mm f/2.8L IS USM lens useful for creative photography even in the genres of portraiture, fashion , and wedding photography.
The RF100-300mm f/2.8L IS USM's 100mm to 300mm zoom capability (160mm to 480mm on APS-C cameras) covers a range that would normally require at least two or three lenses to achieve (Previously, this combination was needed to achieve 100-300mm at f/2.8: 70-200mm f/2.8 lens + 300mm f/2.8 prime lens, or 100mm + 135mm + 300mm prime lenses).
“Based on feedback from photographers and the knowledge and experience we have accumulated over the years, we have created a modern, lightweight, fixed aperture zoom lens for the next generation of mirrorless cameras,” said Mr. Imasaka Daido, Director of ICB Sales & Marketing Division, Canon Singapore.
