On the entire route, Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway has completed more than 90% of the work volume.

The Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway project, passing through Tay Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, is a vital route connecting the Western provinces with the Southeast region, helping to reduce the load on national highways and Ho Chi Minh City’s inner city. After many years of stagnation due to difficulties in capital, site clearance and technology, the project has now been basically “revived” with many sections put into operation.

The route has 4 lanes, 2 emergency lanes, and a maximum speed of 100 km/h. This is the largest expressway project in the South, connecting the East and West regions of the South.

According to the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), the entire project has reached over 90% of its volume. Since the beginning of 2025, nearly 30 km has been put into operation, including the western section connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway to Nguyen Van Tao intersection; the eastern section from Phuoc An intersection to National Highway 51. The remaining part will be put into operation in the third quarter of 2026 in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction.

Binh Khanh Bridge across Soai Rap River (Ho Chi Minh City), part of the J1 package of the project, has a total length of more than 2.76 km, of which the main bridge is 763 m long. Construction began in August 2015 with a total investment of more than VND 2,800 billion.

Binh Khanh cable-stayed bridge has completed the dead load work and is now 99% complete.

In September 2025, the Shimizu - VNCN E&C joint venture successfully conducted a load test of Binh Khanh Bridge (package J1), spanning the Soai Rap River on the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway. Currently, package J3-1 of Phuoc Khanh cable-stayed bridge, spanning the Long Tau River - the final bottleneck of the entire expressway, is also being restarted after a long interruption, expected to be completed and connecting the entire expressway from Long Thanh to Tay Ninh in 2026.

The bridge piers higher than 100m have been completed, but the cantilever spans and cable-stayed cables have not been installed yet.

Along with that, important intersections such as National Highway 51 (Dong Nai), National Highway 50 (Ho Chi Minh City) and the system of service roads, lighting, and traffic safety are also being urgently deployed. Site clearance work in Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City has basically been completed, with only a few remaining problems being resolved.

By early 2019, Phuoc Khanh Bridge had reached more than 80% of the progress when construction had to be temporarily suspended due to difficulties in funding and mechanisms. After JICA withdrew funding, Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) proactively arranged capital to continue the project. By early May 2025, Phuoc Khanh Bridge was officially re-implemented.

Along with Binh Khanh Bridge, Phuoc Khanh Bridge is one of the major bridges on the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway. Expected to be completed before September 2026.

When completed, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway will not only shorten the journey from the West to Dong Nai and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, but also contribute to the formation of a modern inter-regional expressway network, promoting economic development, logistics and tourism in the entire region.
