Emergency after nose filler injection at a sticky rice shop

Ho Chi Minh City, 21 year old man, injected filler for feng shui nose lift at a sticky rice and bread shop, 5 minutes later had headache with vomiting, pain in right eye, blurred vision.

The patient was taken to the emergency room at People's Hospital 115, then transferred to Cho Ray Hospital for further treatment. On July 21, the Inspectorate of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that it had coordinated with local authorities to inspect and verify the facility that injected the patient in District 10. The filler was purchased online by a woman for 300,000 VND and injected into the young man. The facility hung a signboard selling bread and sticky rice and rented a student dormitory, with no legal documents related to medical examination and treatment activities.

Fillers are increasingly used in cosmetic services, dominating other beauty methods thanks to their simple technique, less pain, immediate and long-lasting effects, and no need to undergo surgery. According to regulations of the Ministry of Health , the person injecting fillers must be a dermatologist, a plastic surgeon, and be properly trained in filler injections. The facility performing the procedure must be licensed. If the injection technique is incorrect, fillers of unknown origin and quality are used, it will cause serious consequences, permanent disability of some body functions, and even death.

According to the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, Tang Chi Thuong, illegal cosmetic surgery in the city is becoming more and more sophisticated, affecting the health and lives of people. In particular, they tend to move into establishments such as hotels and motels to avoid authorities. The practitioners do not have a practicing certificate, secretly perform the procedure and cause accidents and deaths to users.

They should not choose a beauty salon based solely on the name on the signboard such as "beauty salon", "beauty institute"...
