In the list of candidates for professorship in 2025, Associate Professor Bui Thanh Tung (43 years old) - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Hanoi University of Pharmacy is the youngest candidate in the Pharmacy industry. He is from Yen Quang commune, Y Yen district, Nam Dinh province (old).

Associate Professor Bui Thanh Tung was formally trained abroad. In 2007, he graduated with a degree in Pharmacy from the Institute of Pharmacy and Food, University of Havana (Cuba). This school was founded in 1728, considered the oldest university in Cuba and one of the first universities in the Americas.

Associate Professor Bui Thanh Tung is the youngest candidate for professorship in the Pharmacy industry in 2025.

In 2011, he received his Master's degree in Pharmacy, majoring in Medicinal Materials from Chosun University (Gwangju, Korea). He then successfully defended his PhD thesis in Pharmacy, majoring in Pharmacology at the University of Sevilla (Spain) in 2014.

Before becoming a lecturer at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi , Associate Professor Bui Thanh Tung was a researcher at the Pharmacology Department, Central Institute for Drug Control and Traphaco Company, Hanoi. At the age of 36, Mr. Bui Thanh Tung was recognized by the State Council of Professors as meeting the standards for the title of Associate Professor.

After more than a decade of teaching and research, Associate Professor Bui Thanh Tung has built an impressive scientific profile with 149 works, of which 49 were published in prestigious international journals. He presided over 3 scientific projects, guided and co-supervised many doctoral students, one of whom successfully defended his doctoral thesis.

The two main research directions that Associate Professor Bui Thanh Tung pursues include: Evaluating the effects, mechanisms and toxicity at the molecular level of medicinal herbs and natural compounds; applying virtual screening technology to develop drugs with high pharmacological efficacy and low toxicity.

Not only outstanding in the field of scientific publication, he also owns 11 exclusive patents and useful solutions, mainly on the preparation of medicinal herbs and natural compounds to support disease treatment, contributing to reducing treatment costs for people.

He is also the author of 1 textbook, 1 monograph (Hanoi National University Publishing House), 2 international reference books (Apple Academic Press, CRC Press) and 17 book chapters published by prestigious publishers such as IGI Global, Wiley, Elsevier.

Thanks to his contributions, in 2018, Associate Professor Bui Thanh Tung received the Science and Technology Award from Hanoi National University. In 2024, he continued to win the Hanoi National University Teacher of the Year Award.
