The quality of mass education has improved, the rate of excellent students in the school has increased gradually over the years. Regarding key education, there have been positive changes, in 2021-2022, there were 8 national excellent student awards, in 2022-2023, there were 13 national excellent student awards.

Up to now, the school has 94 staff and teachers; including 1 doctor, 44 masters; the rest are university-level teachers; 1,659 students have achieved provincial-level excellent students and about 270 national-level excellent students and many students have achieved admirable achievements in science and technology competitions.

In the 2022-2023 school year, the school has more than 1,100 students from 12 districts and cities in the province, many of whom are in difficult circumstances, many of whom have to get used to living away from their families and taking care of themselves, but they always try to assert themselves; take advantage of the knowledge that teachers impart in class; at home, or in the dormitory, they diligently review and self-study. Every year, the school has over 60% of students with excellent academic performance, 100% of students pass high school graduation.

From 2012 to present, students in the school have won 1,340 prizes at the provincial excellent student competition, 100 prizes at the national excellent student competition, 2 Gold Medals at the International Physics Olympiad; 1 Gold Medal, 1 Silver Medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad; 1 Silver Medal at the World Physics Olympiad; 1 student won the Third Prize at the Road to Olympia Finals. In 2023, the school was honored to receive the certificate of recognition as a Level 2 National Standard School.

In addition to education, Son La High School for the Gifted regularly organizes and participates in extracurricular and career-oriented activities aimed at the comprehensive development of students in both capacity and personality. Thanks to that, students at the school always have creative lessons with increasingly better innovative teaching methods of the school.
