Hanoi: A 9-storey mini apartment building on Khuong Ha street, Thanh Xuan district, caught fire, many people climbed to the top floor to call for help.
At around 11:20 p.m. on September 12, a fire broke out in a mini apartment building in lane 29, Khuong Ha street, Khuong Dinh ward. A column of black smoke rose high, visible from a kilometer away.

Witness Van Anh, who lives about 300 meters from the scene, said she heard many cries of "help me" from both men and women coming from the top floor of the apartment building. "After about 5 minutes, the cries gradually became quieter and disappeared," Van Anh said.
About 15 fire trucks and 100 firefighters arrived at the scene. Because the house was located deep in the alley, the fire trucks had to park outside Khuong Ha Street and direct the water hose inside.

At 0:15 on September 13, after breaking the door lock to get inside, the police were able to get 2 babies and 3 adults out in an unconscious state. All were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
By 0:30, the fire was under control, but there was still a lot of smoke inside. Police continuously sprayed water cannons to cool down the building while searching for trapped people.
Many people around also participated in the fire fighting.
Alley 29, Khuong Ha Street, Khuong Dinh Ward has many mini apartments and boarding houses, attracting students from many universities.
