This place is known as the safest place in the world , located mostly underground.
This place is known as the safest place on Earth, a place that is almost isolated from the rest and only opens its doors six times a year. This place is the "Global Seed Vault", located in the Svalbard archipelago in Norway.
As its name suggests, this place stores seeds from all over the world. According to LadBible, this place opened in 2008 and currently holds over a million seed samples to prevent certain crops from becoming extinct.
The seed vault is located in a remote mountain in Norway.
This place would be very useful in case of war, natural disaster or epidemic. Basically, if a plant species disappears for some reason, scientists can go to Svalbard, take the seeds and revive them.
"The seed vault ensures food supplies around the world. If something terrible happens, we'll have to rely on this place," said LadBible journalist Ben Thompson.
The Seed Vault is located deep in a remote mountain, surrounded by metal detectors. Most of the site is underground, with a small section of it exposed to the outside world. It opens just six times a year to transport new seeds. As such, most of us will never have the chance to enter this fascinating place.
This place is only open 6 times a year.
The photo is believed to have been taken inside the bunker.
Where to store seeds
In 2020, a company was lucky enough to enter this vault. Inside, they saw "ice floors" where seeds are stored at -18 degrees Celsius and strictly protected.
"I feel proud to work here. I know that this place contains something that the future will need," said Asmund Asdal, a coordinator working at the bunker.
