Lao Cai Copper Smelting Branch produces and exceeds plan

In the first 6 months of 2025, both copper smelters of Lao Cai Copper Smelting Branch maintained continuous and stable production, all targets met and exceeded the plan.

With the copper smelting process using advanced technology and production lines, the two factories, in addition to producing the main product of 99.95% Cu copper cathode, also recover rare metals such as gold, silver and produce sulfuric acid, copper sulfate, and gypsum.

Copper cathode is a form of copper that is 99.95% pure. To remove impurities from copper ore, it goes through two processes, smelting and electrosmelting.

In the first 6 months of 2025, Lao Cai Copper Smelting Branch produced over 16,689 tons of copper cathode, reaching 55.63% of the yearly plan; nearly 575 kg of gold bars, reaching 65.68% of the yearly plan; over 1,210 kg of silver bars, reaching 41% of the yearly plan; 68,889 kg of sulfuric acid, reaching 50.96% of the yearly plan; 7,461 tons of gypsum produced, reaching over 53% of the yearly plan; over 200 tons of copper sulfate, reaching over 54% of the yearly plan.

Currently, both copper smelters maintain continuous production at 100% of design capacity to ensure copper product supply for domestic and export markets.
