(CLO) Taiwan's foreign ministry said on Sunday (November 3) that a second Taiwanese volunteer was killed while fighting alongside Ukrainian soldiers in the conflict with Russia.
The agency said in a statement that the man was a member of Ukraine's foreign fighter corps, and expressed condolences to his family.
The agency said it received a report of the man's death on Saturday and that Taiwan's representative office in Poland had verified the information with the Ukrainian International Corps.

When the conflict with Russia began, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy openly invited foreigners to come to his country to join an “international corps” that would fight alongside Ukrainians against Russia.
Taiwanese media identified the man as Wu Chung-ta and said he returned to fighting for Ukraine in July, after recovering from a leg injury in his home country.
Wu's body is believed to still be on the battlefield, with the exact location confirmed by drones, according to Taiwan News. Due to heavy fire at the front line, the Ukrainian military will wait for the situation to calm down before retrieving his body.
Wu told local media before his second trip that his family supported his decision to fight. Taiwanese lawmaker Puma Shen told AFP that there were currently “five to six” Taiwanese fighters in Ukraine.
Wu became the second Taiwanese soldier to die fighting for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia since 2022. Tseng Sheng-kuang, a 25-year-old Taiwanese volunteer fighter, was the first to die in November 2022.
