Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh signed Decision 1142/QD-TTg on the establishment of Da Nang City Free Trade Zone.
According to the decision, the Da Nang Free Trade Zone has a scale of about 1,881 hectares arranged in non-contiguous locations, including functional areas such as production, logistics, trade - services, digital technology industry, information technology and innovation and other types of functional areas according to the provisions of law.
This decision also specifies 7 specific locations of functional areas in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.
Specifically, locations 1 and 2 have an area of about 100 hectares and 77 hectares, respectively, located in Hoa Hiep Bac ward, Lien Chieu district; Location 3 has an area of about 500 hectares, located in Hoa Hiep Bac ward, Lien Chieu district and Hoa Lien commune, Hoa Vang district; Location 4 has an area of about 559 hectares, located in Hoa Ninh commune, Hoa Vang district; Location 5 has an area of about 90 hectares, located in Hoa Ninh commune, Hoa Vang district; Location 6 has an area of about 154 hectares, located in Hoa Nhon and Hoa Ninh communes, Hoa Vang district; Location 7 has an area of about 401 hectares, located in Hoa Nhon and Hoa Phu communes, Hoa Vang district.
Da Nang Free Trade Zone is planned and developed on the basis of modern infrastructure, synchronizing the fields of production, trade, logistics, technology and high-quality services, aiming to become a regional economic center, playing the role of a strategic growth pole of the Central region and the whole country in the new development context.
The long-term goal is to build the Da Nang Free Trade Zone into an important link in the global supply chain network and the Asia-Pacific region; a production center, an international freight transit hub connected to Lien Chieu port, Da Nang international airport and the East-West economic corridor; contributing to promoting the development of high-tech industry, innovation and digital transformation, actively contributing to the economic restructuring process of the new Da Nang city after merging with Quang Nam province towards sustainability and deep integration.
In addition, developing the Da Nang Free Trade Zone in conjunction with the International Financial Center in Da Nang city, forming a modern, smart, highly competitive economic ecosystem, creating great spillover, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's position in the region and internationally in the context of globalization.
The decision also states that the production and logistics functional area is oriented to develop into a modern production and logistics center, integrating technical infrastructure and digitalization to improve productivity, efficiency and connectivity with regional and global supply chains. Priority will be given to developing high value-added manufacturing industries and logistics ecosystems.
Regarding the commercial - service functional area, it will form an international standard commercial - service space, serving trading activities, duty-free business, tourism, resorts, accommodation services; providing business support services, logistics, trade, e-commerce; education, healthcare, entertainment, sports and other types of ancillary services to facilitate the development of knowledge economy and regional connectivity.
For the Digital Technology Industrial Park, information technology and innovation and other functional areas are oriented to develop into high-tech and innovation centers, where digital technology application enterprises, research and development centers, creative startups and digital transformation converge, contributing to improving the competitiveness of the country and the region in the global digital economy. The Prime Minister assigned the People's Committee of Da Nang City to preside over and coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to develop and implement the plan for the development of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone. At the same time, organize the establishment, adjustment and approval of relevant planning; carry out site clearance and resettlement work; invest in a number of essential traffic infrastructure and technical infrastructure works to serve the formation of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.
In addition, the City People's Committee will deploy investment in the construction of functional areas in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, technical infrastructure projects inside and outside the fence of the Free Trade Zone; select strategic investors and attract secondary investors according to a suitable roadmap.
