Officially commercialize 5G network

Viettel is the first enterprise to officially provide 5G services in Vietnam. With the message "New Life", Viettel expects 5G to open up new services to serve people, connect people, connect all things, and at the same time create tools and platforms for society to develop together.

According to regulations, for businesses participating in the 5G frequency auction, network operators commit to deploying and installing at least 3,000 BTS stations within 2 years from the date of being licensed to use the frequency band; and officially providing 5G services within 12 months from the date of receiving the license. In addition, the condition for officially launching 5G is that the network operator must broadcast at least 30% of the stations as committed, and currently Viettel is the pioneer network operator to ensure this condition.

Officially launched just 6 months after receiving the license to use the 2,600 MHz frequency, Viettel's 5G network currently has more than 6,500 BTS stations, covering 100% of the centers of 63/63 provinces, cities, industrial parks, tourist areas, seaports, airports, hospitals, and universities. Viettel's 5G network can reach speeds of 700Mbps-1Gb, 10 times faster than 4G and has a low latency of almost 0. Viettel's 5G network deploys 5G simultaneously on both 5G NSA (non stand alone) and 5G SA (stand alone) architecture platforms.

In Thanh Hoa, right after Viettel officially launched the 5G network on October 15, Mr. Nguyen Tho Phu in Dong Ve ward (Thanh Hoa city) decided to go to Viettel's store to register for a 5G package to experience it.

Mr. Tho Phu shared: After registering and using the 5G package, I noticed that the speed of 5G compared to 4G is very different. When using services such as TV360 or Youtube, the speed is very fast, in just 10 - 20 seconds, a movie in high definition is downloaded, watching movies without lag...

“With a package of only 135,000 VND/month, getting an additional 4GB/day is very reasonable,” Mr. Phu added.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Van Duc, Deputy Director of Viettel Thanh Hoa Personal Customer Service, said: The birth of the 5G network will create an explosion of smart connections, smart services... corporate customers as well as individual customers will be able to freely experience and create on digital services. Viettel's 5G network will provide 11 prepaid packages and 8 postpaid packages for individual customers.

In particular, with 5G Viettel, each customer will have their own digital space, all 5G packages are provided with free cloud storage and TV360 4K TV viewing service by Viettel. Customers who own 5G-enabled phones can use the service immediately without having to change SIM. To buy 5G Viettel packages, in addition to current channels, Viettel also launched a shopping portal at hub.vietteltelecom.vn to help customers easily choose suitable packages according to their needs.

As a telecommunications enterprise with a large market share in the province, to officially commercialize the 5G network in Thanh Hoa from October 15, in the past time (phase 1), officers and employees of Viettel Thanh Hoa have focused resources, actively deployed and installed 5G equipment in Thanh Hoa city and neighboring districts.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Director of Viettel Thanh Hoa Infrastructure, said: After completing phase 1, in phase 2 Viettel Thanh Hoa will continue to invest, upgrade, and install all broadcasting stations. Viettel Thanh Hoa's goal is to cover 5G broadcasting stations widely and seamlessly, to remote areas, border areas, islands, in all 27 districts, towns, and cities in the province.

Although it has just been deployed, the 5G network is expected to become one of the pillars of the 4th industrial revolution. 5G will aim for "every citizen to own a super-fast, super-connected smartphone", applying technology to solve major social problems, contributing to building a digital society, a smart era, and contributing to the digital transformation process of Thanh Hoa province.
