According to Bloomberg, Ant Group applies the "Mixture of Experts" (MoE) machine learning technique, combining chips produced by Alibaba and Huawei, to achieve optimal efficiency in data distribution. The results show that the performance of this Chinese chip is not inferior to Nvidia's latest H800 GPU.
This is considered a strong push, because Nvidia has long dominated the AI chip market with high-performance GPU products. Ant Group is showing its ambition to break this monopoly, while reducing its dependence on Nvidia's expensive GPUs.
Ant Group Sends Strong Message About Rise of Chinese AI Tech
Not only that, Ant Group also claims that its AI model has outperformed some benchmarks on the Meta platform. The company’s recent paper also revealed plans to expand AI processing capabilities on Chinese chip platforms. If Chinese chips become widely popular, Nvidia’s monopoly could be shaken. However, Nvidia chips are still hot, especially in China, where businesses are scrambling to get their hands on the latest Blackwell chips despite the US export ban.
According to Ant Group, it only cost them about 6.35 million yuan (equivalent to 1.1 billion VND) to train an AI model capable of processing 1 trillion tokens. Notably, they saved up to 5.1 million yuan (about 900 million VND) thanks to a special optimization method, an impressive figure compared to the huge investment of giants like OpenAI or Google. Not only saving costs, Ant Group also invested heavily in the fields of medical and financial AI.
Ant Group acquired online healthcare platform Haodf.com to develop an AI doctor support system that serves more than 290,000 doctors and manages electronic medical records. Ant Group’s ambitions don’t stop there. It has also launched the Zhixiaobao AI life support app, the Maxiaocai AI financial advisory service, and the Angel and Yibaoer medical AI assistants used by hospitals and insurance companies.

Ant Group’s move is not just a technological advance, but also an important move in the AI competition between the US and China. Successfully developing efficient AI model learning technology without relying on Nvidia’s high-performance GPUs has helped Ant Group gain independence for China’s AI ecosystem.
Can Ant Group surpass global tech giants in the AI race? This question is causing a stir in the tech world, as the Chinese giant increasingly demonstrates its strength and ambition.
Neither Ant Group nor Nvidia have yet made an official response to the news. The global technology market is waiting for further developments as the AI war heats up with the participation of Chinese technology giants.
