Consumers receive home delivery after ordering products on digital platforms.
The Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 is fast approaching, and the festive shopping atmosphere is already bustling. While in the past, Tet shopping was often associated with crowded traditional markets and bustling shops, in recent years, people's consumption habits have gradually shifted towards the application of digital technology . Among these, "online Tet shopping" is increasingly popular due to its many convenient advantages such as fast delivery, wide selection, free shipping, and promotions, making it the preferred choice for many consumers.
Ms. Le Thi Phuong, from Hac Thanh ward, said: “Because of my work schedule, going to the market early and coming home late, online grocery shopping, especially with the Lunar New Year approaching, is truly a lifesaver for me. In just a few minutes browsing on my phone app or website, I can shop and receive my goods anytime, anywhere. Thanks to the free delivery policies of supermarkets or Facebook pages specializing in 'clean food,' I can easily buy fresh, delicious, and high-quality products.”
Sharing the same viewpoint, Ms. Tran Thi Thao from Ham Rong ward said: "Nowadays, I mostly use my phone to order food through Facebook and other social media platforms for cooking and shopping every day. Especially with the Lunar New Year approaching, right before the start of the twelfth lunar month, I proactively 'shopped for Tet' on my phone and computer through e-commerce sites like Shopee, TikTok Shop, Lazada... to gradually order items such as home decorations, household goods, clothes... Online shopping helps me be more proactive with my time, easily compare prices, choose suitable products, and can arrange home delivery at the desired time."
The trend of online shopping, especially for Tet (Lunar New Year), is no longer new. In fact, many young families, officials, workers, and employees in the province have chosen online shopping as a solution that suits their modern lifestyle. Online Tet shopping not only reduces time pressure and allows users to search for items they need anytime, anywhere, without much effort, but also optimizes costs through promotions and discounts from e-commerce platforms and retail systems.
The changing consumer habits of the people have also prompted businesses in the province to proactively adapt to the trend of digital shopping. Accordingly, instead of just selling directly, many businesses have focused on promoting and introducing their products through social media, e-commerce platforms, and online sales channels.
Ms. Trinh Thi Van, owner of a clean food business in Hac Thanh ward, shared: “At this time, the number of Tet holiday orders for my store is almost overwhelming. I am speeding up the import of clean ingredients to produce products in time for the Tet market. Currently, nearly 100% of the store's orders are sold online. Products are introduced and advised through social media; customers only need to message to place orders in advance, and we will prepare and deliver them to their doorstep. This year, the number of customers placing early Tet orders has doubled compared to last year.”
According to Ms. Van, online sales place higher demands on business owners, especially for food items with short shelf lives. Therefore, the business always focuses on controlling product quality, processing, and preservation. At the same time, they ensure timely delivery, maintain brand reputation, and build customer trust.
In Trieu Son commune, Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy, the owner of a grocery store, said: "Many years ago, customers proactively came to the store to choose home decorations for Tet (Lunar New Year), but in the last one or two years, after I posted pictures of decorative products on my personal Facebook page, a large number of customers started to switch to ordering and having them delivered to their homes. Therefore, the store's sales during Tet this year have increased significantly compared to previous years."
The online shopping market is booming ahead of Tet (Lunar New Year), with both buyers and sellers increasingly prioritizing the "digital Tet market." A recent Google report on the Vietnamese market shows a more than 42% increase in searches for the keyword "online shopping." On average, each person uses 22 smartphone apps per week, including social media, games, movie/ video apps, shopping, and food delivery. These indicators demonstrate a growing trend of using digital channels as a useful tool for making purchasing decisions. However, alongside the conveniences, consumers should exercise caution when shopping online during Tet, prioritizing reputable suppliers and official stores; carefully checking product information, origin, return policies, and payment methods to minimize risks and ensure a fulfilling and complete Tet celebration.
