"Crazy match"
The Thai women's volleyball team had a tense and dramatic match against the Netherlands in the final match of Group A of the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Cup. After a spectacular performance, the European team successfully came back to win 3-2 and thereby leading Group A, while Thailand had to accept second place.
It seemed like victory was in Thailand's hands.

The match was evenly matched as both teams were undefeated in the first two matches. Thailand had an explosive first set and surprisingly won against their highly rated opponent with a score of 25-23. However, the Netherlands quickly regained their composure and brought the match back to a balance with a 25-17 win in the second set. In the third set, the home team once again took the lead after ending this set with a score of 25-10 but the scenario continued to repeat itself when they lost the fourth set with a huge difference of 10-25. The two teams fought breathlessly in the decisive fifth set and finally the away team won with a score of 16-14.
The main striker of the Dutch women's volleyball team is too strong.
The most outstanding player on the Dutch side was captain and main striker Nika Daalderop, who had an excellent performance, scoring 26 points, including 20 offensive points and 6 blocks, helping the Dutch maintain a stable performance in decisive moments.
In addition, the main striker Eline Timmerman also contributed significantly with 14 points, including 10 attack points and 3 ace serves. After the match, Timmerman shared: “This was a crazy match, with a lot of changes. We played very well in the fourth set, but we knew that the decisive match would be different. Luckily, we kept our composure at the end and did what was necessary to win.”
Thailand is in good form in the tournament on home soil.

Meanwhile, Thailand also had plenty of stars. Pimpichaya Kokram continued to perform well with 20 points (18 points, 2 blocks), along with Sasipapron Janthawisut, who scored 14 points (13 points, 1 ace).
"I think it was a high-level match," said Thailand's striker Chatchu-On Moksri. "Both teams played very well and we fought hard. Our goal was to get to the next round, and I'm happy that we achieved that. However, we still want to continue to improve and go further. The fans have been very supportive throughout the tournament, and that support is really important for us," she said.
With this result, the Netherlands leads Group A while the home team is in second place and faces one of two strong opponents in the round of 16: Japan or Serbia. Japan is currently in second place in Group H with 5 points, while Serbia is in first place in Group H with 6 points.
The strong teams all have tickets to the next round.
In Group B, Italy and Belgium won their second consecutive matches and booked their place in the round of 16. Italy easily defeated Cuba 3-0 (25-9, 25-8, 25-16), while Belgium defeated Slovakia 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-18).
Meanwhile, in Group C, Brazil had a dramatic match when they successfully came back from two sets down to win 3-2 against France (21-25, 20-25, 25-15, 25-17, 15-13). Greece also won 3-1 against Puerto Rico (25-19, 25-13, 23-25, 25-14), marking their first victory at the World Championships in 23 years.
