Basketball Tournament, a pre-competition event for the 12th Dien Bien Provincial Sports Festival

VHO - On October 17, at the Dien Bien Provincial Multi-purpose Gymnasium, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien organized the opening ceremony of the Basketball Tournament, a pre-sport event for the 12th National Sports Congress in 2026.

The tournament had the participation of 11 teams with nearly 100 officials, coaches, and athletes from the Department of Education and Training, Tuan Giao commune, Muong Thanh ward, and Dien Bien Phu.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien province, said that out of a total of 20 sports with 143 competitions at the 12th Dien Bien Provincial Sports Festival in 2026, basketball has 3 events that are determined to create the premise and motivation to continue to promote the strong development movement in the province in the coming time.

Basketball not only attracts a large number of students but also attracts civil servants, public employees, and armed forces to participate in training and competition, creating a healthy playground; contributing to the effective implementation of the Project on developing physical strength and stature of Vietnamese people in Dien Bien province and the Project on developing physical training and sports for everyone by 2030.
