Napoli president confirms Conte's departure

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed that coach Antonio Conte will leave the club after winning the 2024/25 Serie A title.

Antonio Conte is about to leave Napoli.

“I wish Conte continued success in his career in the upcoming journey. Thank you Antonio for everything this coach has done for Napoli,” AS quoted De Laurentiis sharing with the media.

The Napoli president added: “I want to give an emotional hug to Conte, because he took over a team that was on the brink of disaster and together with us helped the club move forward.”

"At one stage, without a star like Kvaratskhelia, he still managed to make the most of what he had. Thank you for bringing us to the Serie A championship," the Napoli head affirmed.

Many sources say that Conte left Napoli because of conflicts with the club's leadership, specifically president De Laurentiis, about the team's development direction.

Conte has demanded that the club spend more heavily next season after winning the Serie A title, but De Laurentiis disagrees. Napoli are likely to target former Juventus coach Max Allegri to replace Conte next season. As for Conte, the coach is likely to return to Juventus.
