President receives Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture and local leaders of Kyushu region

At the reception, President Vo Van Thuong expressed his pleasure to visit Japan on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. At the same time, he assessed that the Vietnam-Japan cooperation and friendship have developed strongly, extensively and substantially in all fields, with multi-level development cooperation, with 100 pairs of local relations having been established.

The President also expressed his joy at visiting the Kyushu region, which has had an exchange relationship with Vietnam since the 16th century, recreated through the opera Princess Anio which was performed in both countries, and is also where the President has many memories of participating in an exchange program in this region since 1997.

President Vo Van Thuong highly appreciated the efforts of the Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture and local leaders of the Kyushu region in promoting cooperation in many fields with Vietnam, and emphasized that upgrading the Vietnam-Japan relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world will open a new stage of development in the bilateral relationship.

The President asked the Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture and local leaders of the Kyushu region to make efforts to realize the new framework of relations by promoting local cooperation pairs between the Kyushu region and Vietnamese localities, promoting cooperation with Vinh Long, Binh Thuan provinces, and Can Tho City through promoting exchange activities and delegations at all levels; promoting investment of enterprises in the Kyushu region in Vietnam, especially in areas of local strengths such as processing, manufacturing, smart agriculture application, wastewater treatment, increasing the reception of workers, interns, and cooperation in human resource training.

Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture Hattori Seitaro and leaders of several localities in the Kyushu region expressed their honor to welcome President Vo Van Thuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to visit; discussed with the President the cooperation situation between the region and Vietnam in recent times; affirmed that the Kyushu region is very eager to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese localities, and wants to receive more high-quality workers and skilled interns from Vietnam to work.

Governor Hattori Seitaro and Chairman of the Fukuoka Assembly also informed the President about the cooperation between Fukuoka Prefecture and Vietnam in general and the friendly cooperation between Fukuoka Prefecture and Hanoi City in the fields of people-to-people exchange, culture, and high-tech transfer. Governor Hattori Seitaro wished to resume the study tour program for high school students to Vietnam, thereby promoting understanding between the young generations of the two countries.

Governor of Nagasaki Oishi Kengo discussed with the President about cooperation between Nagasaki and Quang Nam provinces. Governors of Miyazaki, Saga, and Kagoshima provinces highly appreciated the contribution of the Vietnamese community to the socio-economic development of the provinces, serving as a bridge to promote relations between the two countries; expressed the desire to promote cooperation in human resources, and encourage the reception of more Vietnamese people to work and study in the provinces.

The Deputy Governor of Kagoshima Prefecture said that Kagoshima Prefecture has a cooperative relationship with Hai Duong Province; he affirmed that he will make efforts to promote the opening of regular flights between Kagoshima Prefecture and Vietnam, thereby enhancing economic and tourism cooperation between the two sides.

Also at the meeting, the President asked leaders of some localities in the Kyushu region to support and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work successfully, contributing positively to the development of Japanese localities as well as the good friendship between the two countries.
