Previously, on May 28, the head of Türkiye's Supreme Election Council (CEC) Ahmet Ener said that, based on preliminary results, incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan won the second round of the presidential election.
The official said: “The number of votes cast at home and abroad is 99.43%. Mr. Tayyip Erdogan received 52.14% of the votes, Mr. Kemal Kilicdaroglu 47.86%. The gap between the candidates is 2.253 million votes.
The 809,000 votes that have yet to be counted will not affect the outcome, even if all of them go to one of the candidates. Thus, according to preliminary calculations, Mr. Erdogan has been elected President of Türkiye."
