National Assembly Chairman attends the launching ceremony of Youth Month 2024

On February 25, at Truong Bon National Historical Site, Do Luong District, Nghe An Province, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union held the Launching Ceremony of Youth Month 2024 and the Spring Tree Planting Festival 2024.

Attending the ceremony were Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue; leaders of the National Assembly, central departments, ministries and branches, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Nghe An province and more than 3,000 union members and youth of Nghe An province, a large number of union members and youth participating in the launching ceremony at connecting points across the country.

In 2024, the Central Secretariat of the Youth Union chose the theme "Youth volunteers for community life" for Youth Month to demonstrate the determination, sense of responsibility, and taking on difficult tasks that require sacrifice of time, materials, and efforts of union members and young people nationwide to create new values and make positive and specific contributions to the community and society.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue praised and congratulated the achievements of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the youth of the whole country in organizing the Youth Month in recent years. The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee for choosing the theme of the work in 2024 as "Year of Youth Volunteers", identifying the theme of this year's Youth Month as "Youth Volunteers for Community Life"; organizing the launching ceremony of the Youth Month and the Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho at the same time, demonstrating the spirit of action and high determination of the Youth Union chapters at all levels.

To successfully implement Youth Month and the Youth Union's work program in 2024, the National Assembly Chairman suggested that in the context that the country is still facing many difficulties and challenges, Party committees and authorities at all levels, especially the Youth Union chapters, need to continue to have a deeper awareness of the role and position of youth, "youth is a great social force, the backbone of the country, the vanguard force in building and defending the Fatherland, one of the decisive factors for the success or failure of the cause of industrialization, modernization, international integration, and building socialism".

At the same time, thoroughly grasp the direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the 12th National Congress of the Youth Union, term 2022-2027: "Young people must be pioneers and volunteers in carrying out political tasks; in difficult and new tasks; ready to share for the community; volunteer to go to remote, isolated and disadvantaged areas; go to the poor and disadvantaged; ready to go anywhere, do anything the Fatherland needs"; thereby, creating all conditions to strongly arouse the enthusiasm of young people, promote the strength and creativity of the youth force in carrying out political tasks of localities and units.

I especially hope that young people will first of all do their best in their positions, making important contributions to the implementation of the common goals of their agencies, units and the whole country.

Youth Union chapters at all levels need to summarize both theory and practice over 20 years of organizing and implementing Youth Month; constantly innovate and be creative in selecting content, designing and organizing activities, so that Youth Month can fulfill its mission as codified in the Youth Law, continue to develop to a new level, become more profound, practical, effective, have a wider and more sustainable influence. Youth Union chapters at all levels need to do better in education work to promote the spirit of vanguard, volunteerism and creativity of young people to participate in activities for the benefit of the community, build and mobilize organizations and individuals to invest in youth development and so that Youth Month can continue to develop to a new level.

Next, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and delegates performed the launching ceremony of Youth Month 2024; connecting with the points of the Provincial and City Youth Unions to launch the campaign simultaneously. National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue handed over the torch to start the Youth Month to First Secretary of the Central Youth Union Bui Quang Huy, lighting up the flame of enthusiasm, initiative, volunteerism, and dedication, to contribute to building a prosperous and happy Vietnam. The torch was carried by 55 outstanding young people of Nghe An province from Nam Dan - Uncle Ho's hometown to Truong Bon, the historical symbol of the Vietnamese Youth Volunteers.

Responding to the Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho, the National Assembly Chairman requested that all levels of the Youth Union and young people nationwide continue to effectively maintain good models and practices in tree planting, afforestation, environmental protection, and climate change prevention; regularly organize activities to care for and protect trees, and preserve a green, clean, and beautiful living environment. Party committees at all levels, authorities, ministries, branches, and organizations need to strengthen leadership, direction, guidance, and coordination to effectively implement youth work; dialogue, listen, trust, and assign tasks to young people; increase the participation and contribution of young people; help young people have the best opportunities and conditions to practice, strive, and mature. Continue to care for, support, create favorable conditions and mechanisms for the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to effectively carry out its mission of caring for, educating, nurturing, and promoting the role of young people in the cause of national construction and defense.

In the launching program to respond to the Tet tree planting "Forever grateful to Uncle Ho" in the Spring of Giap Thin, the Central Youth Union and Nghe An province planted 10,500 trees including casuarinas, purple-flowered trees, especially 70 new Bauhinia trees - symbolizing the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory, which were taken from Dien Bien province and planted at Truong Bon National Historical Relic Site.

In order to support and accompany orphaned students in difficult circumstances, the Central Youth Union and the Central Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association have sponsored 20 orphaned students until they are 18 years old (support of 500,000 VND/month).

At the Program, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union supported Nghe An Provincial Youth Union to carry out social security activities such as visiting and presenting gifts to heroic Vietnamese mothers and revolutionary veterans; providing free medical examinations and medicine, and giving gifts to children and people in difficult circumstances, gifts to ethnic minorities; livelihood models for people to develop the economy. Along with that, building youth projects such as: Computer rooms for children, playgrounds for children; happy houses, happy bridges, lighting up country roads, lighting up borders; youth nurseries; reading spaces, interaction and Team activities... The total value of resources and projects is more than 6 billion VND.
