In his opening speech, President of the Senegalese National Assembly Malick Ndiaye stated: The seminar marks an important milestone in the relationship between Senegal and Vietnam. Although the two countries are geographically far apart, they are connected by an extremely strong invisible thread. The visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation is a testament to the new vitality of parliamentary diplomacy .
According to the President of the Senegalese National Assembly, the parliaments of the two countries play a strategic role in building a solid bridge between the two economies through promulgating legal policies, creating a favorable environment for investment and business, closely monitoring government activities as well as supporting reforms and improving national competitiveness.
The President of the Senegalese National Assembly said that bilateral trade has many prospects for development this year. Vietnam is a strategic trade partner of Senegal, especially in the agricultural sector. Currently, Senegal is importing about 10% of its rice from Vietnam and mainly exporting cashew nuts, seafood, fish meal, animal feed, etc. to Vietnam.
Emphasizing that the cooperative relationship between the two countries can develop further, the President of the Senegalese National Assembly said that the seminar is an opportunity to discuss public policies, legal frameworks and investment prospects in the fields of agriculture, trade, agricultural processing industry, etc.
National Assembly Chairman Malick Ndiaye said that Vietnam, with its strong industrialization, is becoming a source of inspiration for many southern countries, including Senegal. He pointed out that in the context of the region and the world facing many difficulties and challenges, countries including Vietnam and Senegal must strengthen solidarity and support each other, in line with the spirit of "if you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together".

Expressing his impression with the opening speech of Senegalese National Assembly Chairman Malick Ndiaye, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that the advantages and potential for cooperation between the two countries are enormous. Vietnam has many strengths that can cooperate with Senegal, especially in the fields of agriculture; telecommunications; digital infrastructure; mining; aquaculture; construction and infrastructure investment.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that he had a very successful meeting with National Assembly Chairman Malick Ndiaye, thereby deepening the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries, especially between the two legislative bodies; emphasizing that the visit not only opened a new page of cooperation through the parliamentary channel but also created momentum for the two countries to expand cooperation in all fields, for the benefit of development and prosperity of the two peoples.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that the two countries’ National Assemblies increase support for Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Senegal; called on Vietnamese enterprises to come to Senegal, and hoped that the Senegalese National Assembly would create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to have opportunities to invest there. “The National Assembly is ready to support Senegalese enterprises to invest in Vietnam in all fields,” the National Assembly Chairman affirmed.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man hopes that the agreements signed between ministries, sectors, businesses and corporations of the two countries will soon be realized through specific cooperation programs in the coming time. The National Assembly and the Government of Vietnam are ready to create all legal conditions to promote meetings between Vietnamese and Senegalese businesses to effectively implement agreements and investment and trade cooperation projects between the two sides.
At the seminar, delegates shared about finding investment cooperation opportunities as well as new directions for bilateral cooperation in the coming time.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Mau, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, said that Vietnam has implemented many projects in developing countries with the mission of transferring agricultural science, technology and techniques to support those countries in developing the agricultural sector, ensuring food security and moving towards export. Vietnam can help African countries build projects, master plans for agricultural land, detailed plans for land use, cooperate in scientific and technical research on agriculture; organize training courses in Vietnam or in the host country to improve the capacity of agricultural extension officers, managers and policy makers.
Representatives of Senegalese ministries, sectors and businesses said that with its strategic location in West Africa, dynamic economy and political stability, Senegal is emerging as an economic hub of the region; wishing to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in areas such as agriculture, fisheries, processing industry, renewable energy and information technology...
To realize the potential for cooperation, delegates said that the two sides need to increase information exchange and business connections. The two governments need to have policies to support capital, technology and market access for small and medium enterprises, while enhancing cultural and people-to-people exchanges because mutual understanding of culture and people will be a sustainable bridge for long-term economic cooperation.
