Hau Giang province has an area of 1,622 km2, a population of about 800 thousand people; located in the center of the Southwest sub-region of the Hau River. Over the past 48 years since the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, Hau Giang has undergone many separations. 20 years ago, Hau Giang separated from Can Tho, Hau Giang was the poorest agricultural province in the Mekong Delta. Up to now, Hau Giang is emerging as a "bright spot" in the economic picture of the whole country, always growing higher than the average. GRDP growth rate in 2021 reached 3.28% (2.56% higher than the whole country); in 2022 it reached 13.94%, the highest level since the establishment of the province, ranking fourth in the country (8.02% higher than the whole country); in the first 9 months of 2023, it reached 13.30%, rising to the top of the country.

Hau Giang's economic scale has increased more than 10 times (about 4,700 billion VND in 2004, about 48,062 billion VND in 2022). Domestic revenue increased by an average of 1,000 billion VND/year, an increase of 20.45% (total state budget revenue in 2021 reached 4,400 billion VND, an increase of nearly 1,000 billion VND compared to 2020; in 2022 it reached 6,080 billion VND, an increase of 1,120 billion VND compared to 2021). Average income per capita is higher each year than the previous year, an average increase of more than 15%/year. The economic structure has shifted in the right direction, industry continues to grow strongly, gradually affirming its role as a driving force for the province's economic development.
Along with that, the province's business investment environment has been improved; infrastructure continues to receive investment attention. The fields of culture and education are focused. National defense and security are maintained, social order and safety are ensured. The work of building the Party and the political system has many substantive innovations, achieving positive results.

Regarding the implementation of Resolution 43/2022/QH15 of the National Assembly on fiscal and monetary policies to support the Socio-Economic Recovery and Development Program, the province has been proactive and made efforts to carry out assigned tasks. The province is implementing 6 projects using capital from the program, with a total investment of 10,300 billion VND, the plan for 2023 is 1,707.478 billion VND.
At the meeting, the comrades in the working delegation and the delegates attending the conference made statements clarifying the achievements, potentials, and strengths of the province as well as the remaining problems and solutions to overcome them so that the province can continue to develop more strongly in the coming time.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai said that relevant agencies and the Government are implementing the process of approving the Planning of Hau Giang province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. With the existing potential and advantages of Hau Giang, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai believes that Hau Giang will develop synchronously in industry, agriculture, infrastructure and regional development.
Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly Standing Committee and the working delegation, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue commended and congratulated the efforts and achievements that the Party committees, authorities, army and people of Hau Giang have achieved in the past time.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that Hau Giang's economic scale is still small, its per capita income is lower than the whole country's, and its starting point is low, so Hau Giang needs to continue to maintain and at the same time promote faster and more sustainable growth, contributing to the successful implementation of the common goals of the entire term as well as the whole country; striving to achieve the goal that by 2030, Hau Giang will become a province with a fairly good industrial production base, and by 2050, it will become the center of industrial production and logistics in the Mekong Delta, and become a province with a fairly good level of development compared to the whole country.
Basically agreeing with the opinions expressed at the meeting and the report of the Standing Committee of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue requested the Standing Committee of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee to lead and direct the early implementation of the quick report on the results of the 8th Central Conference of the 13th tenure; urgently complete the submission for approval of the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, proactively develop a plan for effective and quality implementation. Focus on developing both industrial parks and industrial clusters in the context of limited land fund for industrial development, attracting in the spirit of very careful selection of investors using small land areas but high investment value. Promoting advantages, typical agricultural products, and at the same time linking to form a common agricultural product supply chain of the region. Agriculture must proactively adapt to climate change, promoting the "seasonal dam" initiative model.

Regarding transportation, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue agreed that the province needs to implement key projects, but should pay attention to building intersections and service roads to promote socio-economic development.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue highly appreciated the province's motto: "One center (Developing Chau Thanh district to become the center of industrial and urban development of the province in the medium and long term), Two routes (Focusing on exploiting and developing along two key routes: Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway connecting with Ho Chi Minh City and Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang route connecting with the provinces of the South of Hau River), Three cities (Prioritizing the development and upgrading of urban centers: Vi Thanh city, Nga Bay city and Long My town), Four pillars (Developing 4 pillars: modern industry, ecological agriculture, smart urban areas, quality tourism), Five focuses (Perfecting institutions and policies; developing quality human resources to serve the fields; administrative reform - application of IT, digital transformation; perfecting infrastructure, focusing on transport and industrial infrastructure; developing culture - society, improving the material and spiritual life of the people)".
Regarding the province's proposals, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue requested the Government, representatives of ministries, branches and central agencies to discuss and exchange opinions; the National Assembly Office synthesizes proposals and recommendations to send to relevant agencies for study, consideration and settlement according to their authority. The National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Assembly agencies will urge and supervise the implementation process. For issues under the authority of the National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee will promptly consider and decide according to its authority.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue witnessed the Vietnam National Petroleum Group symbolically handing over 5 billion VND to support the construction of 100 solidarity houses for poor, near-poor, and extremely disadvantaged households with urgent housing difficulties in Hau Giang province./.
