VFF President calls for support for family of player who died in accident

On June 25, 2023, the bus carrying the Quang Nam Youth Football Team had an accident at Violak Pass, on the way from Kon Tum back to Quang Nam after competing with Gama Vinh Phuc Team in the 7th round of Group A of the 2023 National Second Division Football Championship qualifiers.

The accident resulted in the death of player Vo Minh Hieu. Two players Luong Quang Huy, Nguyen Phi Hung and a fan traveling with him (Mr. Hai) were fortunately only injured and are currently being treated at the hospital.

Immediately after receiving the sad news about the accident of the bus carrying the Quang Nam Youth Team, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan, on behalf of the VFF Standing Committee, sent his deepest condolences to the entire Team, especially the family of player Vo Minh Hieu, for the loss and pain they had to go through.

In the condolence letter, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan expressed: “On behalf of the VFF Executive Committee, I would like to express my deepest sympathy and most sincere condolences to the family of the player involved in the accident; hope that the family of the deceased player will soon overcome this painful moment; hope that the injured players and fans will soon recover and return to football.

VFF calls on all Vietnamese football coaches and players in general and teams participating in the 2023 National Second Division Football Tournament to turn to the family of player Vo Minh Hieu, stand by them in this difficult time and share and support.

Always remember the best memories and impressions of player Vo Minh Hieu and continue to build Quang Nam football to develop."

Also on June 25, Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi, General Secretary of VFF, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2023 National Second Division Football Tournament and representatives of the VFF Competition Organization Department were present in Quang Ngai (hometown of player Vo Minh Hieu) to directly express condolences and encourage the family of player Vo Minh Hieu, the Board of Directors, the Coaching Board and the entire Quang Nam Youth Football Team.

On behalf of VFF, General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi presented 50 million VND in support to the family of player Vo Minh Hieu as well as visited and presented support money to the two injured players and fans who are being treated at the hospital.

In the 2023 National Second Division Football Tournament, the Quang Nam Youth team competed in Group A, just ending the first leg in third place on the rankings with 2 wins, 3 draws and only 1 loss.
