No technological devices found to cheat on high school graduation exams

The high school graduation exam took place from June 26-28. More than one million candidates took four exams including Literature, Math, Foreign Language, and a combination exam (Natural Sciences: Physics, Chemistry, Biology; or Social Sciences: History, Geography, CivicEducation ).

On the afternoon of June 28, the Ministry of Education and Training held a press conference on the 2024 high school graduation exam.

At the press conference, Mr. Huynh Van Chuong - Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam - said that at the end of the exam, statistics showed that there were 30 candidates nationwide who violated the exam regulations. Of which, 26 candidates were suspended from the exam (9 candidates used documents and 17 candidates used mobile phones), no officials violated the exam regulations.

This number has decreased significantly compared to last year (in 2023, 41 candidates were suspended from the exam).

The Ministry of Education and Training assessed that the exams were conducted safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations. The transportation and printing of exam papers were confirmed to be safe and confidential.

Also at the press conference, Major General Tran Dinh Chung, Deputy Director of the Internal Political Security Department, said that the recent violations of exam regulations were mainly caused by bringing cell phones into the exam room. Currently, no candidates have been found to have cheated using high-tech devices.

Before the exam, the Ministry of Public Security reviewed the purchase and sale of high-tech equipment to prevent it from a distance, and directed localities to strengthen the review. Mr. Chung also informed that previously, there was a subject spreading rumors about leaked exam questions. The Ministry of Public Security has stepped in to investigate and find the subject spreading false rumors and distributing clips, and this subject has pledged not to repeat the offense.

In the coming time, the Ministry of Public Security is ready to coordinate with the Ministry of Education and Training to verify if there is continued information related to exam fraud.

According to the plan, from tomorrow, localities will begin the exam marking process. At exactly 8:00 a.m. on July 17, the Ministry of Education and Training will announce the exam scores.

After the results are available, the Departments of Education and Training will organize the high school graduation exam. Candidates will check their graduation results and receive their temporary graduation certificates within three days, July 21-23. They can use their graduation exam scores to apply for university and college admission.
