Digital transformation opens up development space in the fields of culture and tourism

Launching the movement "Digital Education for the People", Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Phuc Long emphasized: This is a movement of extremely important significance, carrying profound humanistic values for the development of the country and each locality, including the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province; demonstrating the determination of the Party Committee and the government in the development of a digital nation, digital government, digital economy, digital society and digital citizens; at the same time, concretizing the content of Resolution No. 57, dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.

Leaders of departments, branches and localities participated in the launching ceremony of the emulation movement to carry out the tasks of developing science and technology, innovation and digital transformation by 2025.

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Phuc Long stated: Nearly 80 years ago, when the country had just gained independence, more than 95% of the population could not read or write, "ignorance" became one of the three dangerous enemies, along with "famine" and "foreign invaders". President Ho Chi Minh launched the "Popular Education" movement, with the urgent goal of eliminating illiteracy and improving the cultural level of the people. And in just a short time, millions of Vietnamese people could read and write, making an important contribution to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Today, we are entering the digital age, "literacy" is not enough, but we need to know how to apply technology, interact in the digital environment, access information, use online public services, and communicate safely and effectively via social networks. Today's "Digital Literacy for All" movement is a creative and necessary continuation of the spirit of learning, progress, and always looking forward, to open the door to integration with the world, meeting development needs. "Specialized departments, units under the Department, localities and each civil servant, public employee and worker in the entire Culture, Sports and Tourism sector participate in a synchronous, proactive and drastic manner. Proactively invest in equipment, ensure human resources; organize classes to popularize digital skills suitable for each subject and each specialized field", said Mr. Long.

Ms. Truong Thi Anh, Head of the Department of Culture and Family Management (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism) said that in recent times, digital transformation has been strongly deployed and deeply implemented in the areas under the management of the department, building a digital platform, bringing spiritual values to all people anytime, anywhere. The department coordinates with localities to deploy applications and platforms to support state management, effectively exploiting the benefits of digital transformation.

In fact, applying technology to improve management processes and customer service has been helping the culture and tourism industry create important steps for sustainable development in the future.

Digital technology helps preserve, revive and spread the value of traditional cultural heritage, elevate the value of cultural heritage into commodity products, promote the sustainable development of "cultural technology - heritage economy"...

According to Mr. Dinh Mot, Director of Dak Lak Museum, the digital transformation application updates data and information on culture, heritages, and tourism products, making it easy for tourists to access. Just by using their smartphones, they can view the content they are interested in, thereby enhancing the value and quality of their tours. Science and technology and digital transformation are contributing to preserving and promoting cultural values imbued with national identity, meeting the development needs of society.

The tourism sector is also witnessing an explosion of digital technology applications, contributing to improving the experience of tourists and promoting destinations. Recently, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak has built a tourism information portal, digitized and updated tourist attractions, accommodation facilities, culinary and shopping locations, etc.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Le Hoang (Ea Kao ward) shared: "Three years ago, I graduated from university with a major in information technology. When I returned to work locally, I found that the application of information technology and artificial intelligence in the tourism sector was very useful. For example, developing technology applications to support tour guides, online tour booking websites to interact and attract tourists, organize events, manage tours, technology platforms to connect tourists at the province's tourist attractions, create a digital ecosystem for the culture and tourism industry...".
