Safety solutions in complex urban traffic context
S2S - Secure to Safe is a safety monitoring system equipped by Xanh SM on its electric taxis, which began to be deployed on April 22. S2S includes surveillance cameras inside and outside the car, emergency buttons at both the driver and passenger positions, smart sensors and AI-integrated software that analyzes behavior and detects abnormalities in real time. When there is an incident or sign of danger, the system immediately sends a signal to the Operations Center to activate emergency support procedures such as mobilizing the support of the nearest Xanh SM drivers or authorities.
Traffic expert Phung Duc Trong said that the move of the Vietnamese electric taxi company is reasonable, demonstrating the business's responsibility to the community and keeping up with international trends.
Mr. Trong said that equipping a surveillance camera system in taxis has become a common practice in many developed countries, and is considered an effective solution to improve safety, transparency and quality of passenger transport services. For example, in Australia, states such as Victoria and New South Wales have stipulated that all taxis must install cameras to prevent illegal acts, protect drivers and passengers, and clarify disputes when there are complaints. Meanwhile, in the US, the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) has also applied similar regulations since the 2000s.
S2S is a necessary safety solution in the increasingly complex urban traffic context.
"In Vietnam, in the context of increasingly complex urban traffic, this is considered a necessary solution that should be encouraged and replicated to protect the rights of both drivers and passengers, while creating a civilized travel environment," Mr. Trong affirmed.
According to the analyst, monitoring systems like S2S play an important role in preventing and handling negative behaviors or emergency situations in vehicles. Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze behavior and detect abnormalities - such as violence, drug use - helps the system detect potential risks early and provide immediate feedback. In particular, the ability to directly connect the emergency button to the Operations Center helps optimize the speed of handling situations, increasing the effectiveness of on-site support for both drivers and passengers, especially at night or in areas with few people.
"The technology that Xanh SM is deploying with the S2S system is especially useful. This is not only a monitoring tool, but also an intelligent defense layer that helps prevent many risky situations early, before they can happen," Mr. Trong emphasized.
Smart monitoring, respecting user privacy
From a technology perspective, many experts are also impressed with S2S's approach to protecting user privacy.
Technology expert Nguyen Minh Long - who has many years of research on AI applications and data security, commented that S2S's information security policy has been carefully calculated with user-oriented regulations such as only activating surveillance cameras during high-risk hours (from 10pm to 6am) or when customers request it right from the time they book a car on the application.
Green SM finds a balance between ensuring safety and respecting passenger privacy
According to Mr. Long, these features demonstrate Xanh SM's commitment to respecting users' privacy.
"A comprehensive security solution needs to balance risk prevention and privacy protection. S2S has done a great job of this, providing physical security while building informational peace of mind for users," Mr. Long affirmed.
According to experts, by combining artificial intelligence, early warning and quick response, Xanh SM is creating a comprehensive safety system, providing a transparent and reliable experience for both drivers and passengers. This will be the basis to increase user trust in Xanh SM in particular and modern technology taxi services in general, thereby helping the transportation market develop in a more sustainable direction.
"Proactively investing in advanced, in-depth solutions like S2S has helped Xanh SM make a difference and lay the foundation for a more civilized, safe and sustainable traffic future in Vietnam," said traffic expert Phung Duc Trong.
