The Vietnamese team will visit Malaysia in the first leg of Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Football expert Phan Anh Tu assessed the nature of this match with Tuoi Tre Online :
Malaysia will strike first
Mr. Phan Anh Tu shared: Following the current football trend in the region, the Malaysian Football Federation has started a campaign to naturalize players with European origins. They have changed and are certainly stronger with new human quality, something that Malaysia has always been inferior to us.
Certainly, for Malaysian football, the idea of "revenge" against the Vietnamese team is very high at this time. They have lost too much in the past. Since 2014, the Malaysian team has not won a single match against Vietnam. Therefore, with this rise, Malaysian football will have high expectations.
However, like Indonesia before, in the early stages, naturalized players will have difficulty connecting with the domestic players. The difference in playing style and playing level will create a disconnection and disharmony when the team has a short time to get acquainted.
The Malaysian team will "preemptively attack" the Vietnamese team. I think that in the first 30 minutes, the home team will concentrate their forces to score a goal and dominate the match. After 30 minutes, if the plan fails, the opponent will easily have problems operating as expected.
If they are stuck, the naturalized player will find a way to finish the game on his own instead of patiently coordinating without much time to practice beforehand. They easily lose their direction in the overall play.

Vietnam team has plan B
Assessing the preparation of the Vietnamese team, Mr. Phan Anh Tu said: Coach Kim Sang Sik will be cautious when playing away. This is still the second match of the group stage, and with the disadvantage of the field and the audience, the Vietnamese team should consider and not necessarily play an open game.
The Korean coach usually divides the match into two halves. Therefore, I guess Mr. Kim Sang Sik will actively defend in the first half with players who have good fighting ability. The central defenders and goalkeeper need to concentrate and maintain the formation until after the 30th minute.
Even though we haven’t played a match since March, the way to defend is not too complicated. The Vietnamese team just needs to keep their formation low, keep their distance and support each other well. When the defense is successful, Coach Kim Sang Sik will choose the time to attack.
Option 2 could be that skillful attacking midfielders like Quang Hai and Hoang Duc are pushed higher up the pitch when the Vietnamese team is no longer playing proactive defense. We can trust in the form of Hai Long, Tuan Hai and especially Van Vi recently.
The addition of left-back Cao Pendant Quang Vinh is also very promising. Van Vi can be pushed up high and move inside to create breakthroughs. The left wing may no longer have to worry when this corridor is assigned to Quang Vinh and Van Vi in defense and attack.
In fact, no one knows how strong or weak the Malaysian team is this time to worry. Play confidently, hold out and wait patiently for the right moment, the Vietnamese team will get points.
