Quang Nam Club is participating in the Thien Long Tournament in Tam Ky.
On the afternoon of July 21st, many players on the Quang Nam FC roster expressed their sadness on social media. They announced their departure upon learning that Quang Nam FC would cease operations before the 2025-2026 season.
One dejected player said, "The team management announced that the team will be disbanded after the provincial merger. I don't know where I'll go either, but the team has already paid me in full regarding finances."
According to information from the club's players, the Quang Nam Club leadership met with the team and informed them of the leadership's and sponsors' decisions, as well as the future direction after the Quang Nam Club disbands.
A member stated that players who wish to leave will be facilitated, while those still under contract will be transferred to Da Nang FC when Quang Nam FC ceases operations.
Previously, Quang Nam FC had met with its sponsor to discuss whether to maintain or merge the team after Quang Nam province was merged into Da Nang. The decision was to disband the Quang Nam team.
The team has submitted a report to the Da Nang City People's Committee to seek their opinion and await a decision.
The head coach of Quang Nam FC, Mr. Van Sy Son, is not present at this time. Mr. Sy Son is currently studying for his Pro Coach license from the Vietnam Football Federation in Japan and will soon return to Vietnam.
Coach Van Sy Son had previously requested to resign but his request was denied. He helped Quang Nam FC avoid relegation, forcing Da Nang FC to play a play-off match against Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc .
Yesterday, Quang Nam FC participated in the Thien Long Tournament on their home ground in Tam Ky. They were also a co-organizer of the tournament, but today the team is on the verge of disbanding.
The team has also parted ways with several players, including goalkeeper Nguyen Van Cong, goalkeeper Tong Duc Anh, midfielder Phan Thanh Hau, and three foreign players from last season.
The V-League organizing committee has conducted the draw and scheduled the matches for the 2025-2026 season. If Quang Nam FC does not participate, it will significantly impact the organization of the new season and affect the tournament regulations.
Currently, the Vietnam Football Federation and VPF are still awaiting an official report from Quang Nam Club regarding this matter.
