Gambling in the form of betting, 3 defendants appear in court

For the same crime, defendant Nguyen Van Nang (41 years old, Phu Nhuan commune, Ben Tre city) was fined 50 million VND and defendant Nguyen Thi Bich Phuong (54 years old, Phu Nhuan commune, Ben Tre city) was fined 30 million VND.

On September 3, 2020, in Ben Tre City, Lieu and Nang colluded to gamble illegally by selling lottery tickets to Phuong and a number of people including: Chi, Nhan, Tan, Phuoc, Phung, Hung, and Nho.

In which, Nang and Lieu sold lottery tickets to Phuong and other subjects, Southern lottery stations with a gambling amount of 45.44 million VND; sold lottery tickets to Northern lottery stations with a gambling amount of 39.42 million VND.

Phuong bought lottery numbers from Southern stations sold by Nang and Lieu with a gambling amount of 29.45 million VND, bought lottery numbers from Northern stations with a gambling amount of 21.5 million VND. Phuong sold lottery numbers to Loan from Southern lottery stations with a gambling amount of 1.65 million VND.

The Ben Tre City People's Court considered that the defendants had many mitigating circumstances, sentenced defendant Nguyen Thi Thuy Lieu to 1 year in prison and did not impose an additional monetary penalty on Lieu. The court sentenced defendant Nang to a main penalty of 50 million VND and defendant Phuong to 30 million VND.
