Ben Tre compatriots contribute 238 million VND to support treatment costs for 31 children with cancer

There are 31 children from districts and Ben Tre city receiving money to support treatment costs, depending on the condition of the disease, each child receives from 2 to 22 million VND. Some children are hospitalized, so their relatives come to receive on their behalf. The total amount of money given to the children is 238 million VND, supported by the Liaison Committee of Ben Tre compatriots in Ho Chi Minh City.

It is known that this is the amount of money contributed by Ben Tre compatriots in Ho Chi Minh City through the special art program "The grace of the coconut homeland - Aspiration to reach far" on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Ben Tre Literature and Arts which took place in April 2025. The Provincial Association for Supporting Poor Patients alone supported 31 gifts including cakes and milk for sick children.

Speaking at the ceremony to present money and gifts, Chairman of the Provincial Association for the Support of Poor Patients Tran Cong Ngu expressed: Over the past 20 years, the Association has mobilized 1,500 billion VND to support the poor, families with meritorious services, disabled children and orphans. The most important thing is that the Association has spread the spirit of love, help and especially sharing with the unfortunate people after the war. Today, we are extremely happy with the presence of Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department Huynh Thanh Dat and his wife, at the same time, thank the hearts of Ben Tre compatriots who have helped poor patients in the province for many years, thanks to which, many disadvantaged families in Ben Tre have had the conditions to overcome difficulties and rise up.

Deputy Head of the Ben Tre Fellow Countrymen Liaison Committee in Ho Chi Minh City Doan Hoang Hai said: “The Ben Tre Fellow Countrymen Liaison Committee has been established for 35 years, our activities are towards Ben Tre through social security work such as supporting poor patients, building bridges and roads. In 2024, the Ben Tre Fellow Countrymen Liaison Committee in Ho Chi Minh City mobilized Ben Tre fellow countrymen living in Ho Chi Minh City with a total amount of 210 billion VND to take care of Ben Tre people... Today's support amount is not much, but this is also the heart of Ben Tre fellow countrymen sent to the sick children, to share and encourage the sick children - while they are suffering from the pain of cancer and I wish them a speedy recovery, good health to the delegates".
