The H'Mong girl became famous thanks to the clip of her speaking English fluently with Western guests (Editor: Thu Thao).

In 2005, Lo Thi Mai (born 1992, Lao Cai ) suddenly became famous thanks to a clip of her speaking fluent English with foreign tourists in Sa Pa town (now Sa Pa town), Lao Cai province. Since then, she has been nicknamed "the H'Mong girl who speaks English like the wind".

Recently, Mai shared a series of happy moments when she and her Belgian boyfriend - Wim Francois (born 1983) - visited her family in Lao Chai village, Sa Pa, Lao Cai.

Wim, who was meeting his girlfriend's family for the first time, integrated himself into everything very naturally. He took intimate photos with his future mother-in-law, ate happily with everyone, and washed dishes in a "when in Rome, do as the Romans do" style. These images delighted Mai's followers on her personal page.

Lo Thi Mai and her boyfriend Wim Francois returned to Vietnam to travel and visit family.

Talking to Dan Tri reporter, Lo Thi Mai said that she and her boyfriend returned to Vietnam for more than 10 days and will return to Belgium on April 11. Mai's two sons did not return with their mother on this trip.

"This is my boyfriend's first time coming to Vietnam. He really likes Vietnamese food and loves the Hmong community. My family also really likes him," Mai shared.

The "Hmong girl" could not hide her happiness when she reunited with her family and met her friends after a long time away from home. Her lover was always by her side taking care of her and was excited to experience life here.

Before returning home, Mai and Wim also spent time exploring Ha Long Bay.

Win took a photo with Mai's mother (left) and excitedly experienced life in his girlfriend's hometown.

Revealing about her current relationship, Lo Thi Mai said that her significant other is 9 years older than her and has never been married. The couple has been together for 2 years and 6 months and has received support from both families.

"My boyfriend is kind and genuine. He is a wonderful man to me and my children. I feel lucky to have him in my life," she said.

When asked about a wedding, Mai confided that she and Wim were not considering marriage at the moment. However, the two bought a house in Belgium and moved in together last year.

In 2012, Mai married a Belgian businessman and settled abroad. At that time, her love story was like a fairy tale, making many people admire. However, after 7 years of living together and having two sons, the couple broke up because they could no longer find common ground.

After the divorce, Mai rented a house alone and lived on a steady income from her job as a nurse at the Sint-Trudo hospital in Sint-Truiden, Limburg, Belgium. Her children lived with their father and spent two days a week with their mother.

Mai and Wim share a passion for travel and have gone on many trips together.

Mai had been through several relationships before being with Wim. On her personal page, she often posts sweet moments with her boyfriend and receives many happy wishes.

"My current life in Belgium is very good thanks to my boyfriend who loves and cares for me. We share a passion for traveling and try to take two trips a year if possible," she shared.

Lo Thi Mai is the youngest child in a family of 5 in Lao Chai village, about 7km from the center of Sa Pa. Due to difficult circumstances, from the age of 10, Mai went to school and also traveled around selling brocade souvenirs to tourists in Sa Pa to help her parents earn a living every day.

Thanks to frequent contact with foreign tourist groups, Lo Thi Mai "picked up" English without needing to read books. Knowing a foreign language has changed the life of a girl who only finished 9th grade.

When life in Belgium is comfortable, Mai can send money back to her parents to renovate the house and support the family financially. Every time she returns home, she also gives warm clothes to children.

Besides English, Mai is able to communicate in Dutch and French.
