In that spirit, the British Council in Vietnam has introduced the Small Grants Fund - Cultural Connections Programme, which inherits the activities of UK Vietnam Season, thereby supporting the connection of a new generation of artists in Vietnam with the world .

Through this programme, the British Council aims to expand its relationships, engagement and support for the arts sector in Vietnam. This funding programme supports artists and independent arts organisations interested in engaging with the UK to plan and implement capacity building activities, as well as introduce creative works to audiences, and have the potential to collaborate with the UK in the future.

Ms. Donna McGowan - Director of the British Council in Vietnam said: “We are proud to support the arts and creativity sector in Vietnam through the Cultural Connections Small Grants programme. In addition, the Cultural Connections Small Grants is the next funding opportunity for Vietnamese artists and those interested in connecting with the UK in the future.”

The program will provide opportunities for Vietnamese artists and independent arts organizations to enhance their capacity through professional development activities including workshops, residencies, research and development, artist talks or showcase creative works such as exhibitions, installations, performances, and film screenings.

If selected, the grant will be awarded to the applicant to cover costs associated with a professional development programme or work presentation activities from August 2024 to March 2025. The value of each grant is between £500 and £1,000 (equivalent to about 15 to 30 million VND), including all taxes.

On 19 September, the British Council will provide details of the Cultural Connections Small Grants Fund.

The British Council will accept applications on a rolling basis from 15 July 2024 to 15 January 2025. The British Council Vietnam Arts Team will lead the selection process and it is expected that the results will be announced within 10 days of receipt of applications. Please note that this funding is not for activities that have already taken place.
