Opportunity to improve the quality of preschool education

Recognizing the importance of preschool education, in recent times, the provincial education sector and schools have paid special attention to improving the quality, from organizing the nurturing, care and education of children to developing a network of preschool schools and classes suitable to the local socio -economic conditions, meeting the needs of children going to school, in the direction of standardization, modernization, socialization and international integration. In addition, attention has been paid to improving the quality of developing the team of preschool managers and teachers to meet the requirements of educational innovation. Since then, the quality of preschool education has been increasingly improved, meeting the requirements of educational innovation, in line with the development trend of society.

Dr. Le Hoang Du awarded the certificate of Excellent Preschool Teacher at the provincial level for the 2024-2025 school year.

In particular, theeducation sector focuses on improving the quality of teaching through competitions to promote the teaching and learning emulation movement in the whole sector. For example, the provincial competition for excellent preschool teachers. The competition is held every 4 years with the aim of discovering, selecting, recognizing, honoring and replicating advanced models. This is also an opportunity for teachers to practice, self-study, be creative, learn, exchange, convey and disseminate experiences in the work of caring for, nurturing and educating children.

Dr. Le Hoang Du, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, said: “The provincial-level competition for excellent preschool teachers is organized to find excellent teachers, to arouse the spirit of innovation and creativity of teachers in caring for, nurturing and educating children. The competition is one of the bases for assessing the current situation of preschool teachers, thereby developing a training plan to improve the professional qualifications of teachers, meeting the requirements of innovation in education, especially the new preschool education program based on the educational perspective of taking children as the center”.

Huong Tram Kindergarten (Ward 5, Ca Mau City) is the unit with 3 teachers achieving excellent results at the Provincial Excellent Preschool Teacher Competition this year. To bring this exciting achievement to the school, to the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau City, the school's Board of Directors created the best conditions for teachers to participate in the competition, the Principal enthusiastically supported and helped the teachers.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc, a teacher at Huong Tram Kindergarten, won the title of Excellent Preschool Teacher at the provincial level for the 2024-2025 school year. In each lesson, she brings the children a joyful learning spirit and many interesting experiences.

Ms. Nguyen Bich Thao, Principal of the school, said: “With enthusiasm, love for the profession, and love for children, the teachers have used all their abilities to successfully complete the tasks assigned by the school and the trust of their colleagues. The competition for excellent teachers is the basis for the school to evaluate the current situation of the team, creating opportunities for teachers to self-study and self-improve, thereby helping the school have a basis to build a plan for training, fostering and improving professional qualifications, meeting the requirements of educational innovation”.

Ms. Pham Ngoc Dinh, a teacher at Huong Tram Kindergarten, shared: “This year’s competition poses many interesting and new challenges, from designing activities in an integrated, flexible, creative direction, effectively applying modern educational methods, to the ability to flexibly handle situations in a child-centered educational environment. The competitions are not only a test of ability but also an opportunity for teachers to demonstrate their love for the profession, their dedication to children and their ability to deliver inspiring lessons. To achieve good results, I myself prepared carefully, best demonstrated the ability, capacity and mettle of a teacher, participating in the competition with a relaxed, confident and creative spirit.”

The province currently has 134 nurseries and kindergartens; 30,238 children; 307 managers, 2,042 teachers. Preschool children attending school 2 sessions/day reached 94.31%. The rate of mobilizing children to go to school reached 38% of nursery-age children and 97% of preschool-age children. The rate of preschool children being familiar with the English program reached 22.23%. Ca Mau province firmly maintains universal preschool education for 5-year-old children, meeting the standard of universal primary education level 3.

Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Le Tuyet Tram, one of the three excellent teachers of Huong Tram Kindergarten, said: “I have prepared well the lesson plan, teaching aids, carefully researched the content and teaching techniques in the direction of active teaching, taking children as the center in all activities. I have applied information technology, exploited local resources to design educational activities closely related to real life. Through that, children not only learn but also experience, explore and form important skills for the future”.

In fact, the contest is a condition, opportunity, motivation and contributes to the development of the province's education career in general, and preschool education in particular. In addition, teachers who achieve the title will be the core to spread knowledge, experience, good teaching methods, inspire initiatives, and inspire teachers in all preschools in the province to compete in teaching well, contributing to improving the quality of preschool education in Ca Mau province.
