Nguyen Thi Thao Linh, a third-year student majoring in Plant Science at the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University, shared that she had nearly two months of internship in Germany. According to Linh, the working environment there is very dynamic and professional, creating enthusiasm for students during their practical experience. To successfully complete the job, students need to be equipped with the ability to communicate in English or German, have good health, and cultivate a passion for their chosen field.
During their internships and work experience in Germany, students receive various forms of support, including free health insurance, private accommodation with shared living quarters including a kitchen and essential amenities. In addition, they are provided with regular transportation for shopping and meals twice a week.
Professionally, students have access to and use the company's software to process information and input data, while also receiving guidance on cultivation techniques, farm operation, and data collection for their internship reports.
Even during the internship period, the German company still paid an average salary of nearly 13 EUR/hour. As she entered her final year, Linh and many other students from the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University, continued to register for this program, with the long-term goal of potentially staying and working in Germany after graduation.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Huu Van, Vice Rector of the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University, stated: Developed countries in general, and especially Germany, are experiencing a shortage of trained personnel in the agricultural sector. Therefore, graduates from the university have many job opportunities not only domestically but also in developed countries such as Germany, Denmark, Israel, Japan, etc.
The international job market offers many advantages such as high income (around 2,500-3,000 EUR/month in Germany), a professional working environment, good benefits, and opportunities for long-term residency. However, students need to be well-prepared in terms of professional knowledge, vocational skills, foreign languages (English or German), and health. The school has collaborated with many organizations to provide students with short-term internships, in which students receive support for accommodation, travel, and stipends.
Currently, the fields of study that offer opportunities for internships and employment in Germany include: Crop science, high-tech agriculture, animal husbandry, food technology, food hygiene and safety, mechanical engineering technology, mechatronics engineering, etc.
In late April, the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University, held a meeting with ICO International Joint Stock Company - Hue Branch to promote cooperation in training, career guidance, and job placement for students. A highlight of the meeting was the discussion of a work program in the Federal Republic of Germany under the 18B visa category, opening up opportunities for graduates to work in an international environment, earn a stable income, and pursue long-term career development.
From their early years of study, students receive career guidance, German language training, and development in work skills and adaptability to the global business environment. In addition, paid internships and apprenticeships at domestic FDI companies help students gain practical experience early on.
| According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Huu Van, in the last five years, the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University, has had hundreds of students interning and working in Germany. In addition, over the past 15 years, the university has had thousands of students interning and working in many countries around the world. |
