Charlie Woods is currently ranked 606th on the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Rolex Junior Golf Ranking, making him the second-lowest-ranked player among the 72 entrants in the Team Taylormade Invitational Title at Streamsong Black, Florida. However, Tiger Woods' son surprised everyone by shooting 70-65-66 for a score of -15 strokes, surpassing America's number one junior golfer, Miles Russell (-9).
Charlie Woods’ previous best finish in an AJGA event was a tie for 25th (6-over) at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley. Last year, Charlie Woods qualified but failed to qualify for the U.S. Junior Amateur, an event his father Tiger Woods made history by winning three years in a row. Tiger Woods also won eight AJGA events from 1991 to 1993.
The first title, and the best finish of Charlie Woods’ amateur golf career, represents a big step forward for the son of the legendary golfer. Starting June 15, high school sophomore Charlie Woods will be able to meet with college coaches under NCAA Division I recruiting guidelines for golf.
Of course, Charlie Woods has a huge advantage over other golfers when he has his legendary father to guide him. Since 2020, Woods and his father have played together in the PGA Tour Family Couples event and the PNC Championship. The pair have finished runner-up twice in 2021 and 2024. Charlie Woods also had his first hole-in-one at the 2024 event, with his sister Sam caddie.
