The AI Young Guru competition is an initiative in response to policies promoting the development of digital human resources, aligned with Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, and Resolution 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training. By encouraging students to learn and apply AI systematically, safely, and effectively, the competition also aligns with recent directions from the Ministry of Education and Training regarding AI education and guidance on the use of AI in teaching and learning.
The competition is organized by FPT University and is sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Training, with professional support from the Ministry of Science and Technology. In addition, the competition is supported by the Science and Education Special Programs Department of Vietnam Television, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Ministry of Public Security , and various units of the FPT Group. This collaboration provides a foundation for the synchronized organization of professional work, communication, and competition operations, contributing to the strong spread of the AI learning and application movement in schools.

Dr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the FPT University School Council, emphasized that AI is having a profound impact on life and the labor market. Therefore, education cannot "ban AI" but needs to guide students to use AI effectively, responsibly, and with integrity. He stated that AI Young Guru is a key activity that has been prepared for a long time to integrate AI into learning in a practical way, linked to the "learn - apply - experiment" model, and is part of the FPT Education Group's programs to popularize AI and innovate teaching methods.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong, Vice Minister of Education and Training, assessed that AI presents both opportunities and challenges for management and training; excessive caution will lead to missed opportunities, therefore, early implementation of AI education for both teachers and students is necessary. He acknowledged the Ministry of Education and Training's pilot activities and guidance, and expressed hope that AI Young Guru would become a scalable model thanks to three outstanding features: universality and fairness, assessment of the entire learning and application process, and guidance on using AI ethically and effectively.
At the event, Mr. Bui Hoang Phuong, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, affirmed that the competition is concrete evidence of promoting digital transformation and AI application in Vietnam, encouraging the transformation of ideas into products serving daily life. He suggested using practical problems as a benchmark, while simultaneously developing technical capabilities with a safe, responsible mindset, focusing on people, and especially emphasizing the application output; the Ministry of Science and Technology committed to considering support for products with high applicability for practical implementation.

The AI Young Guru competition is designed with three rounds:
Round 1: Popularization and Ideas (online)
Contestants register on the competition website and complete student confirmation as required. Participants must complete a minimum of 3 mandatory online courses compiled by FPT University for free, and may also take additional elective courses.
After completing the training, participating teams choose a problem from their studies, work, or life to propose a solution, using free AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) and present their entry as a PDF file including: the problem, the solution, its effectiveness, the prompt, and a link to the product. The organizers will evaluate the feasibility, practical value, application of AI, and product quality to select the Top 150 teams for the next round.
Round 2: The Arena (live in various locations)
The competition will be held at 5 FPT University campuses (Hanoi, Da Nang, Quy Nhon, Ho Chi Minh City, and Can Tho). In 3 hours, teams will use AI to solve real-world problems; rankings will be based on accuracy and speed, with the top 30 advancing to the final round. Teams can adjust their membership if new members have registered and completed the required course.
Round 3: Practical Competition (live in Hanoi)
The event includes a 24-hour Hackathon to develop and refine the solution, followed by a debate, presentation, and product demo at Studio S14 - Vietnam Television Station during the final awards ceremony.
