Announcing the national walking activity "Moving forward with Vietnam"

With the main message "1 billion steps into the new era", the program is expected to mobilize the collective strength of millions of people across the country to join in walking, marking 1 billion steps for health, solidarity and aspiration of a nation that is changing strongly in the new era. At the same time, the program contributes to spreading confidence, pride, and practically celebrates the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2 and the Traditional Day of the Vietnam People's Public Security.

Major General Le Hong Hiep shared about the meaning of the national walking activity "Moving forward with Vietnam".

The highlight of the program is the activity taking place from 6:00 to 7:30 a.m. on August 16, 2025. Program participants in 34 provinces and cities, more than 3,321 communes, wards and special zones nationwide, wearing red shirts with yellow stars, will turn to the historic Ba Dinh Square to watch the national flag-raising ceremony, sing the national anthem in unison, and move forward together for a united, strong and sustainable Vietnam.

Speaking at the press conference, comrade Le Quoc Minh said that this is a very special event, contributing to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2 and the People's Public Security Traditional Day. Up to this point, on the online registration portal, in just one week, the number of steps has reached more than 150 million, equal to 1/7 of the set target. Many units and tens of thousands of union members and youths across the country have also actively responded.

Sharing about the significance of the activity, Major General Le Hong Hiep said that the activity "Moving Forward with Vietnam" is not just a simple community physical activity, but a collective action rich in political and social significance, demonstrating the determination of the entire nation to overcome difficulties together, maintain health, strengthen solidarity towards the goal of sustainable development and strong integration in the new era.

With each step replacing a trip, the program contributes to building the habit of walking - a practical way for the community to reduce CO₂ emissions together, concretizing the commitment to net zero emissions by 2050 in the spirit of COP26 - for a sustainable Vietnam.

The national walking activity "Moving forward with Vietnam" takes place from July 25 to August 16, 2025. People across the country can register online and walk every day, contributing to the journey of "1 billion steps into the new era" - a practical activity showing patriotism, spreading a healthy lifestyle and reducing carbon emissions, towards the country's Net Zero goal.
