In particular, criteria on transportation, income, poverty reduction, economic development and effective production models have been implemented synchronously, bringing about clear results.

By the end of 2024, Tien Giang province will have 135/135 communes meeting NTM standards, achieving 100% of commune-level targets. The province will have 68 communes meeting advanced NTM standards (accounting for 50.37%), and 14 communes meeting model NTM standards (accounting for 10.37%).
The whole province has 8/8 districts, along with 3 city and town level units (including My Tho City, Go Cong City and Cai Lay Town) that have completed the task of building new rural areas, of which 2 districts have met the standards of advanced new rural districts: Cho Gao and Go Cong Dong.
Right from the first years of implementation, Tien Giang has identified infrastructure, especially rural transport, as one of the core factors to promote socio-economic development. By 2024, 100% of communes in the province have met traffic criteria - a figure that demonstrates the tireless efforts of the local government and people.

Income criteria also recorded remarkable progress. In 2010, the province's per capita income was only about 18.7 million VND/year. After many years of restructuring agricultural production, developing agricultural value chains, applying science and technology and promoting exports, by 2024, the average income of Tien Giang people had increased to 76.4 million VND/year - the highest in the Mekong Delta region.
In addition, the poverty rate has decreased sharply from 10.96% (in 2010) to 0.79% by the end of 2024. This is the result of due attention to social security, full implementation of housing support policies, vocational training, preferential loans, along with the implementation of many effective and sustainable poverty reduction models, suitable for each residential area.
The province's rural economy has also recorded strong changes. The economic structure has clearly shifted with the proportion of industry - construction reaching 27.7%, services reaching 35.3% and agriculture - forestry - fishery remaining 37.1%. Export turnover in 2024 will reach 6.5 billion USD, ranking second in the region. Many large enterprises invest in the agricultural processing sector, helping to increase the added value of local agricultural products. Total social investment capital in 2024 will reach over 51,000 billion VND - a stable growth rate, demonstrating investors' confidence in the rural potential of Tien Giang.

It is impossible not to mention good models and creative ways in the process of building new rural areas. The province has successfully developed agricultural tourism models associated with local products in Cai Be and Cai Lay districts; cooperative models for producing fruits meeting VietGAP standards in Chau Thanh and Cho Gao districts; high-tech aquaculture models in Go Cong Dong and Tan Phu Dong districts; models of "5 no, 3 clean", revolving capital contribution groups... These models both solve employment and increase income; at the same time, promote community awareness in building a healthy and sustainable living environment.

These achievements are the result of the drastic and close direction of the Party Committees and authorities at all levels and the joint efforts of the entire people. With high determination, flexible and creative approaches and thorough investment, Tien Giang has not only successfully completed the task of building a new rural area but also gradually moved towards the goal of developing a modern, civilized and sustainable rural area.
At the ceremony, the People's Committee of Tien Giang province awarded Certificates of Merit to 38 collectives and 34 individuals with outstanding achievements in building Tien Giang province to meet NTM standards in 2024.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Van Vinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that Tien Giang is very honored and proud to be one of the three provinces in the country (along with Tra Vinh and Quang Ninh provinces) recognized by the Prime Minister for completing the task of building new rural areas according to the standards for the period 2021 - 2025, and is one of the eight provinces nationwide recognized for completing the task of building new rural areas. This result is a mark, a milestone recognizing the great contributions, determination, efforts and achievements that the entire Party Committee, government and people of Tien Giang province have strived for in implementing the National Target Program on building new rural areas before arranging administrative units to implement the 2-level local government model.
On the occasion of this solemn ceremony, comrade Nguyen Van Vinh, on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tien Giang province, expressed his deep gratitude to the Government, Government leaders, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, relevant Central Ministries and branches, and the Central Coordination Office for New Rural Development.

In the coming time, to carry out the arrangement and formation of new administrative units, it is necessary to have a longer-term vision and higher political determination to continue building a more developed, effective and sustainable new rural area; to improve the material and spiritual life of the people. Comrade Nguyen Van Vinh has oriented a number of contents that need to be focused on and continued to be implemented as follows:
Party committees at all levels, authorities, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations continue to promote propaganda work, create consensus among the people on the meaning, importance, content, tasks and methods of organizing the implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, avoid complacency with the achieved results and continue to have plans and solutions to improve the quality of criteria, strive to build advanced and exemplary New Rural Construction in the coming time associated with the characteristics of each locality, taking agriculture as the foundation, people as the center, and enterprises as the driving force.
The province continues to effectively implement the Project on Restructuring the Agricultural Sector towards increasing added value and sustainable development associated with building new rural areas. Building concentrated raw material areas that meet quality management standards, associated with intellectual property protection. Continuing to implement the OCOP Program associated with key products, local specialties according to the value chain, combined with attracting investment and developing tourism; considering this as one of the key solutions to develop the agricultural and rural economy, and increase people's income.
Applying science and technology, digital transformation in building new rural areas from state management to production, consumption of agricultural products and public services in rural areas; strengthening value chain linkages, developing cooperative economy, forming concentrated production areas linked to markets and exports, especially key products of each locality; linking new rural area construction with the goal of green - ecological - circular development, adapting to climate change, especially in areas frequently affected by drought and saltwater intrusion. Strengthening the application of science and technology, promoting innovation and accelerating digital transformation in rural economic development, building new rural areas and sustainable poverty reduction.
Develop rural culture - health - education evenly, improve the quality of social security, ensure social order and safety, towards the goal of building "livable countryside". Promote the role of the people as the main subject, improve the capacity of grassroots government.
Carry out well the work of protecting the rural environment, actively improve the environmental landscape, develop bright - green - clean - beautiful models, combine the construction of MTM with the development of community tourism, promote traditional cultural values.
