UNLEASHING POTENTIAL

To properly exploit the potential, advantages and create a breakthrough in tourism development, Tien Giang Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution 11-NQ/TU dated April 5, 2017 of the Provincial Party Executive Committee (Term X) on tourism development of Tien Giang province to 2020 and orientation to 2030. This is considered one of the province's determinations to properly exploit the tourism potential and advantages of Tien Giang.

After a period of implementation, Tien Giang tourism has made significant changes, especially in centers with advantages in tourism development such as My Tho City, Cai Be area or Go Cong coastal area. Talking to Ap Bac Newspaper reporters recently about the results after the implementation of Resolution 11 of Tien Giang Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of My Tho City People's Committee Le Thi Be Phuong said that tourism is a type of service that My Tho City has focused on investing in and developing in recent years. In the tourist route to the Mekong Delta, My Tho is the first stop for tourists to visit. In particular, eco-tourism and garden tourism are the city's advantages, because of the landscape of rivers and year-round fruit gardens, typically the Thoi Son tourist area.

Tien Giang expects tourism to become an important economic sector.

At the same time, My Tho has many cultural and historical relics, including Vinh Trang Pagoda, Bach Cong Tu's house, Nguyen Dinh Chieu High School, etc., which attract a large number of tourists to the city. In addition, the art of Don Ca Tai Tu, cuisine and traditional craft villages are also factors that contribute to attracting tourists to the city.

Recently, in order to develop tourism in the spirit of Resolution 11-NQ/TU, Tien Giang has invested in transportation projects to contribute to tourism development in the period of 2025 - 2030, including: Upgrading and expanding Provincial Road 877B from Cay Dong intersection to the beginning of Con Ngang to serve Con Cong tourist area, Luy Phao Dai relic site in Phu Tan commune, Tan Phu Dong district; the coastal National Highway connecting Long An province and Ben Tre province. Continuing to study and coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City to invest in opening an inland waterway route and passenger port connecting Vam Lang town - Can Gio - Vung Tau to serve the development of transportation and tourism. In addition, the People's Committee of Go Cong City is maintaining the road surface and drainage system of District Road 96B, Long Hoa ward (Road to Do Trinh Thoai historical and cultural relic). The investment in the construction of a wharf and a floating dock to serve rowing boat activities near the Cai Be - Tan Phong ferry terminal to support the development of tourism in Tan Phong commune is expected to be completed in June 2025. In addition, the province also received another project proposing to study investment in tourism development from Phuong Hoang Galaxy International Development Company Limited: Project of a high-class tourism, trade and service area, hotel complex, and entertainment (Cau Muong hamlet and Cay Bang hamlet, Tan Thanh commune, Go Cong Dong district)...

Implementing Resolution 11-NQ/TU dated April 5, 2017 of Tien Giang Provincial Party Committee on tourism development of the province to 2020 and orientation to 2030, the city has focused on directing all levels of government, people and businesses to be aware of the position, role and importance of tourism development such as issuing Plan 5185/KH-UBND dated August 8, 2017 on implementing Action Program 24-CTr/TU of My Tho City Party Committee to implement Resolution 11-NQ/TU dated April 5, 2017 of Tien Giang Provincial Party Committee.

Accordingly, regarding investment in developing infrastructure and technical facilities to promote tourism development, in recent times, large projects that the province and the city have paid attention to investing in have been changing the appearance of the city such as: Tien River embankment and artistic lighting system in embankment areas of Ward 1, Ward 2, Ward 4, Ward 6, My Tho Cruise Port, Hung Vuong Square of the province...

The improvement of the environmental landscape, the organization of waste collection, and the maintenance of environmental sanitation at tourist attractions and historical and cultural relics in the area such as the Bach Cong Tu House, the Secret Tunnel of Hamlet 3A, the City Party Committee Base Stele, the City Team Base Stele... are also being focused on. In addition, My Tho also invested in upgrading, repairing, and installing new tourism advertising signs, signs to key tourist areas and attractions, and tourist guide maps in the city; coordinated with VNPT to install many wifi transmitters so that tourists can access information...

FOCUS ON SERVICE QUALITY

In general, Resolution 11-NQ/TU has created a new wind for the development of the tourism industry. The most obvious result is through planning, product diversification, and implementation of effective linkage models in tourism development... The most obvious highlight is the implementation of planning, focusing on investment in key projects to develop Tien Giang tourism. Accordingly, Tien Giang has implemented the Tien Giang Tourism Development Plan to 2020 and vision to 2030, aiming to focus on investment in developing 4 main tourism centers: Cai Be tourist area, Thoi Son islet tourist area, Tan Thanh sea tourist area and Dong Thap Muoi Ecological Reserve.

Regarding the tourism development centers of the province, in addition to My Tho city, in recent times, Cai Be district has had a relatively high growth rate compared to other localities in the province, thanks to its advantages of having many potentials and opportunities for tourism development. The province is focusing on investing in key projects in the district, such as: Cai Be Fruit Park Project; Project to preserve and promote Cai Be floating market in the period of 2017 - 2020 and orientation to 2025. Thereby, the tourism industry has planned to develop fruit garden tourism associated with Cai Be floating market, ancient houses and traditional craft villages in Dong Hoa Hiep commune, while consolidating and developing new tours and tourist routes, including linking tours and routes with businesses in Tan Phong islet (Cai Lay district), Binh Hoa Phuoc (Vinh Long).

Or like the districts in the Eastern region, Tan Thanh marine eco-tourism area is planned with a scale of 80.3 hectares. Of which, Tien Giang Tourism Joint Stock Company is currently exploiting with an area of ​​4 hectares (Huong Bien Restaurant), Van Binh An Company Limited invests in exploiting with restaurant services, resorts... with an area of ​​11.7 hectares. Particularly, the Tan Thanh coastal embankment investment project has been completed and put into operation to serve tourists...

From another perspective, the province has always focused on product development. In addition to promoting the exploitation of river products in the garden areas of Thoi Son Islet (My Tho City); visiting Dong Hoa Hiep Ancient Village, Floating Market and traditional craft villages (Cai Be District); fruit gardens in Tan Phong Islet (Cai Lay District); visiting Tan Thanh beach tourist area, Dong Tam Snake Farm, Rach Gam - Xoai Mut Victory Historical Site; visiting traditional craft villages, enjoying specialty fruits, cuisine, listening to Don Ca Tai Tu music... The province has implemented regional cooperation and linkage to jointly exploit and supplement each other's typical products among the provinces in the Mekong Delta.

Tien Giang Tourism Industry has also set a goal for the coming period to create a breakthrough in comprehensive tourism development of the province in terms of scope, scale and service quality, ensuring sustainability; striving by 2030, tourism will be a truly important economic sector of the province, with high growth rate, speed and quality, professionalism, a synchronous and modern technical infrastructure system; high-quality, diverse, branded and highly competitive tourism products; imbued with national cultural identity, environmentally friendly, making a worthy contribution to the overall achievements of the cause of building and developing Tien Giang province. Accordingly, the Tourism Industry also sets a target that by 2030, Tien Giang will welcome over 3.1 million visitors; of which, there will be about 1.3 million international visitors; total revenue from tourism will reach about 13,000 billion VND...
