In recent times, taking advantage of the strengths of relics such as Tam Chuc Pagoda, Ba Danh Pagoda, Long Doi Son Pagoda, Tran Thuong Temple, Lanh Giang Temple, etc., Ha Nam has promoted the development of cultural-spiritual tourism associated with many unique festivals, such as Tich Dien Festival, Duc Thanh Tran Salary Distribution Ceremony at Tran Thuong Temple, Tam Chuc Spring Festival, etc. In addition, rural tourism associated with traditional craft villages such as Doi Tam drum village, Nha Xa silk weaving village, Nhan Hau carpentry, etc. has also been exploited in the direction of improving service quality and increasing experience value.
With more than 200 accommodation facilities with a capacity of 4,000 rooms, including two 5-star hotels and one luxury hotel in the process of completion, Ha Nam is gradually promoting investment attraction to develop urban entertainment tourism with new products such as walking streets, Flamingo Golden Hill complex, Sun World Ha Nam - notably the Water Park and art and water music programs at Sun Urban City... Notably, the province has invested systematically in the field of sports tourism, especially golf tourism. Currently, Ha Nam has two golf courses officially in operation, according to the local planning, there will be four golf courses.
Along with the system of hotels, resorts, and increasingly upgraded service facilities, Ha Nam is the basis for Ha Nam to gradually position itself as a new destination for high-end customers, combining high-class resorts, entertainment and sports. Highly appreciating Ha Nam's strategic direction, Vietsense Travel Director Nguyen Van Tai commented: The participation of large investors with strong potential has contributed to turning Ha Nam from a tourist attraction into a real tourist destination.
This direction has also contributed to a clear growth in the number of tourists and revenue in recent times for the province's tourism with 4.7 million visitors, nearly 3,700 billion VND in 2024; and nearly 6 million visitors, about 4,500 billion VND in just the first 5 months of 2025. This is the driving force for Ha Nam to continue to improve service quality, affirming its position as "Asia's leading emerging tourist destination".
Development leverage from regional linkages
With the merger of the three provinces of Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, and Ninh Binh, experts believe that the tourism development prospects of Ha Nam in particular and the new tourism growth pole in general will be further consolidated. According to Dr. Bui Van Manh, Director of the Department of Tourism of Ninh Binh province, it is important to research, review, conduct a general survey, and evaluate tourism resources to plan and reorganize development spaces, ensuring consistency and connection of tourism spaces in the entire region along the east-west, north-south or northwest-southeast axes... creating a tourism development triangle; moving towards building a comprehensive, multi-faceted, and unique brand characterized by being a four-season tourist destination with many types and products.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, former Director of the Vietnam Economic Institute, commented that the resonance between destinations such as Tam Chuc, Bai Dinh, expanding to Huong Son (Hanoi), Ba Vi and Phu Tho will gradually form a valuable heritage linkage axis, especially in the Buddhist cultural-spiritual space. However, state management agencies need to know how to arouse the leading role of pillar enterprises to create development momentum, bringing Ha Nam tourism and the entire linked region to breakthrough.
Emphasizing the importance of attracting tourism investment, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Phan Linh Chi said that Ha Nam needs to have appropriate incentive policies to encourage domestic and foreign investors to invest in high-quality hotel, resort, conference center, and entertainment projects associated with nature conservation and sustainable development. At the same time, facilitate administrative procedures, access to land, and planning information to increase attractiveness and reduce risks for investors.
In addition, it is necessary to focus on practical training, developing digital skills, foreign languages and international communication skills to improve the quality of human resources. Ha Nam can link with Hanoi and Ninh Binh to develop themed tours such as "Returning to the sacred land", "Green tourism and heritage", "Spiritual journey"... Another important solution is to promote the application of digital technology, online platforms and multimedia communications to promote the image and tourism products of Ha Nam in a professional and modern manner.
At the conference to promote investment in tourism development in Ha Nam province in 2025, which took place at the end of May, the representative of Ha Nam province's leadership affirmed: The province will continue to complete and effectively implement approved plans, projects, and plans, focusing on the Master Plan for tourism development in Ha Nam province to 2030, vision to 2050; Master Plan for development of Tam Chuc National Tourist Area to 2030; especially building policies and mechanisms to encourage businesses and people to invest in tourism development, new products with Ha Nam tourism characteristics, attracting domestic and foreign tourists...
