The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Long An province said that it has just coordinated with the Department of Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City, the Border Guard, the Economic Zone Management Board and localities in the border area of Long An province to organize a survey team to develop a new tourism product called "Colors of the Border Area".
This is a journey back to the source, taking tourists to visit historical sites, landmarks, and border gates along the southwestern border, connecting Ho Chi Minh City to the provinces of Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang, and Kien Giang.
According to Ms. Le Thi Hong Thuy - Deputy Director of Long An Tourism Promotion Information Center - in the province, the survey team stopped at Binh Hiep International Border Gate, Binh Hiep International Border Gate Border Guard Station, Long Khot Border Guard Station National Historical Site, Long Khot Border Guard Station and border markers. Here, border guards introduced many unique historical and cultural information associated with the protection of border sovereignty .
Ms. Thuy added that, in addition to exploring the landscape and history, the survey team also discussed in depth administrative procedures, plans to ensure national security and defense during the tour organization process, ensuring traditional education factors associated with tourism economic development.
“We hope this product will contribute to reviving the potential of border tourism - a place where sacred emotions about the Fatherland's border converge with curiosity to explore the life and culture of people on the front line of the country,” Ms. Thuy emphasized.
According to the assessment from the stakeholders, this is a completely new direction because up to now, the journey to the border gates and landmarks is often only known through backpacking trips or passing through the journey of entry and exit by road. Organizing a specialized tour of the Southwest border with systematic content will open up opportunities to diversify tourism products of the Mekong Delta region.
Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism is coordinating with Ben Thanh Tourist Service Joint Stock Company to design and complete this itinerary into an official tour, with the expectation of attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
After the survey, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism will continue to work with the Department of Culture and the Border Guard Command of Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang, and Kien Giang provinces to agree on the implementation plan and put the product into actual exploitation in the coming time.
