The Duc Thanh Quy Minh Dai Vuong Festival is held on the 18th day of the third lunar month every year at the Trang An scenic area, Ninh Binh. This is one of the prominent traditional festivals associated with folk beliefs, to commemorate Duc Thanh Quy Minh - the god considered a descendant of Lac Long Quan and Au Co, who had the merit of guarding the southern border of the ancient capital Hoa Lu.

During the Ninh Binh tour during the festival season, visitors will experience the sacred atmosphere through unique rituals such as water processions, sacrifices and animal releases on the poetic Sao Khe River. Thousands of colorful boats follow each other through the magical cave system in the Trang An scenic complex. When reaching the river split, the boat group splits into two: one group docks at Trinh Temple to perform the ceremony, the other group continues to travel more than 3km to Noi Lam Temple, where the main ceremony takes place.

The festival not only has profound spiritual values ​​but also contributes to enriching the Hoa Lu tourism experience, and is part of a series of special cultural events connected to the Hoa Lu festival - the largest festival in the ancient capital, attracting a large number of tourists from all over the world every spring.

2. Thai Vi Temple Festival

Thai Vi Temple Festival is held annually in the third lunar month in Ninh Hai Commune, Hoa Lu District, Ninh Binh Province. This is an occasion for local people to commemorate the contributions of the Tran Dynasty kings in building the foundation and protecting the ancient Dai Viet territory.

The highlight of the festival is the traditional palanquin procession with the participation of more than 30 processions from villages around the Hoa Lu tourist area, creating a solemn yet colorful scene. Immediately after that, the solemn sacrificial ceremony is conducted in front of Thai Vi temple yard with the echoing sound of drums and gongs, showing respect to ancestors.

The festival is no less anticipated with a series of unique folk games such as dragon dance, lion dance, human chess, wrestling... attracting a large number of tourists from all over the world to explore during their Ninh Binh tour. Along with Hoa Lu festival, this is one of the typical cultural activities that strongly reflects the historical tradition and community spirit of the ancient capital.

3. Truong Yen Festival

Taking place from the 10th to the 13th of the third lunar month every year in the ancient capital, Truong Yen festival is an occasion for people to commemorate the contributions of the two kings Dinh Tien Hoang and Le Dai Hanh - who laid the foundation for the Dai Co Viet nation in its early independent period.

The festival is divided into two distinct parts: the ceremony and the festival. The ceremony includes the sacred water procession from Truong Yen wharf on Hoang Long river, with the solemn participation of processions and the worship ceremony at the temple of King Dinh - King Le. Meanwhile, the festival takes place with many traditional activities such as flag-raising exercises, calligraphy competitions, chess competitions and the Miss Hoa Lu Cultural Beauty contest - unique features that attract a large number of tourists from within and outside the province.
