The pepper market is facing many pressures that will cause prices to fall in the short term, mainly due to global trade instability, conflicts in the Middle East and transportation costs increasing by up to 125%. Importers are becoming cautious and limiting the signing of new contracts due to unclear tariff policies.
However, demand from the US and Europe is showing signs of recovery, especially for orders in the fourth quarter of 2025 and early 2026. Experts predict that pepper prices may stabilize or decrease slightly in the short term, but recovery may begin at the end of the third quarter of 2025 if demand increases again and supply continues to tighten.
On the supply side, Indonesia expects pepper output to decrease by 20–30% this year due to climate change, while Brazil is forecast to increase by 20%. In Vietnam, in the first five months of 2025, pepper exports reached nearly 100,000 tons, earning more than 690 million USD.
Although export volume decreased by 12.5%, value increased sharply by 40.5% compared to the same period last year, showing that the average export price has improved significantly.
