Anthropic Launches Opus 4.5 with Chrome and Excel Integration

Anthropic has just announced Opus 4.5, the latest version in the 4.5 model line, following Sonnet and Haiku. This is a powerful upgrade with outstanding performance on many test suites, especially programming and tooling problems.

Notably, the Opus 4.5 became the first model to score over 80% in SWE-Bench verified, a prestigious evaluation standard in the programming field. In addition, Anthropic also emphasized the model's ability to use computers and spreadsheets.

With Opus 4.5, Anthropic is officially expanding its Claude for Chrome and Claude for Excel products. The Chrome extension will be available to Max plan users, while the Excel version will be available to Max, Team, and Enterprise users.

Another important improvement is long-term memory management, which improves the quality of handling long contexts. The new “endless chat” feature allows conversations to continue uninterrupted when the model reaches its context limit, by compressing memory without notifying the user.

However, Opus 4.5 will have to compete directly with other pioneering models that have just been released, including OpenAI's GPT 5.1 and Google's Gemini 3.

AWS spends $50 billion to build AI infrastructure for the US government

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has just announced a $50 billion investment to build high-performance computing infrastructure dedicated to US government agencies.

The project will add 1.3 gigawatts of compute capacity, expanding federal agencies' access to AWS AI services like Amazon SageMaker, Bedrock, model customization and deployment tools, and Anthropic's chatbot, Claude.

According to AWS CEO Matt Garman, this investment will help government agencies overcome technological barriers, accelerate important tasks from cybersecurity to drug research, and put the US in a leading position in the AI era.

AWS expects to begin building the data centers in 2026. This follows years of collaboration with the US government, from the launch of AWS Top Secret-East in 2014 to AWS Secret Region in 2017, serving classified workloads.

Malaysia bans children under 16 from using social media from 2026

Malaysia has approved a plan to ban children under 16 from owning social media accounts starting in 2026. This is part of efforts to protect teenagers from online risks such as cyberbullying, fraud and sexual abuse.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the government is studying models from Australia and European countries, and is considering introducing electronic verification using identity cards or passports to check users' ages.

Since the beginning of this year, social media platforms with more than 8 million users in Malaysia have been required to apply for operating licenses. Licensed platforms must implement age verification mechanisms, content safety measures and transparent regulations.

The move comes as Australia has become the first country to ban social media use by children under 16, effective from December 2025. Denmark and Norway are also considering similar regulations, setting a minimum age of 15.
