(NADS) - On the morning of December 10, at house 145 Tran Quang Khai Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, the Organizing Committee of the book project "Memories of Soldiers" had a working session with the Executive Committee of the Resistance Tradition Club of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces Armed Forces to deploy the book Memories of Saigon Special Forces Soldiers.
This book will be made to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs, the country's outstanding sons in the Special Forces in the great resistance war against the US to save the nation and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
The book project “Memories of Soldiers” was attended by Colonel Nguyen Thanh Truyen, Head of the Organizing Committee; Colonel Nguyen Duc Xe (Ba C), Deputy Head of the Southern Committee; Nguyen Van Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of Toan Cau Xanh Corporation; NB Nguyen Khang and a number of members.
The Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces Armed Forces Resistance Tradition Club has: Mr. Nguyen Quoc Do, Deputy Head of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Military Region Armed Forces - Special Forces Club; Mr. Tran Vu Binh, Founder of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces Museum, Head of the Southern Affairs Department of the Supreme People's Court (son of comrade Tran Van Lai, Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces).
To record the true stories of the combat of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces in the resistance war against the American imperialists, the book project "Soldier's Memories" in collaboration with the Steering Committee of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces Armed Forces will print and publish exclusively for the Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
The 3-storey Special Forces Museum was built in 1963 at 145 Tran Quang Khai Street, District 1, and was a secret place for the Special Forces to operate under the management of Mr. Tran Van Lai (aka Nam Lai). After 1975, the owner divided the house into 3 houses to sell to others. Now the family has bought back part of the ground floor and the remaining 2 floors to build the Museum, said Mr. Tran Vu Binh, son of Mr. Tran Van Lai... The museum has been collecting artifacts since 2019. Currently, there are about 300 artifacts about the formation and development of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces.
The house retains its original architecture, and was once used as a place to carry out secret missions such as meetings, exchanging letters and documents, and providing money, gold, and medicine to the war zone. The entrance to the floors is an ancient elevator that has been around since the house was built. The museum also preserves artifacts by theme, weapons, vehicles, household items, and communication equipment used by the Saigon-Gia Dinh Special Forces during the war before 1975.
We, the next generation, have been sitting in the room where the Saigon - Gia Dinh Special Forces soldiers previously discussed the battle plans in the inner city of Saigon. Now, the book "Soldier's Memories" is also in this room, specifically and in detail, and we are responsible to the next generation not to forget the silent feats that made the US empire and the whole world admire the feats of the soldiers who made history by completely liberating the South and reunifying the country on April 30, 1975.
