Saigon Jewelry Company has the right to general director

(NLDO) – The Saigon Jewelry Company website has just updated the list of senior personnel sitting in the "hot seat" nearly 2 months after 6 people from the company were prosecuted.

On December 26, the website of Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) updated information on the board of directors, in which Mr. Dao Cong Thang was recognized as the Acting General Director. Previously, Mr. Thang was the Deputy General Director of this company. This is a new personnel development at SJC.

Other leaders such as: Mr. Tran Van Tinh still holds the role of Chairman of the Board of Members and Mr. Nguyen Tien Phuoc is a member of the Board of Members.

However, SJC's website has not yet published an official document on the appointment of a new acting general director. This unit has only changed the name and title in the introduction of the company's organizational chart.

Previously, at the regular Government press conference on November 9, Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen (Deputy Chief of Office, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security ) said that 6 individuals from SJC Gold Company and related units were prosecuted for taking advantage of the gold price stabilization business, creating fake documents to appropriate assets.

Among the 6 people prosecuted at that time was Ms. Le Thuy Hang, the former general director of this company. Ms. Hang officially took over as general director of SJC company since December 2019.

Mr. Tuyen said that the initial investigation results showed that the defendants took advantage of the gold price stabilization business to create fake documents and books and appropriated assets. The Ministry of Public Security is focusing on consolidating evidence, expanding the investigation, and thoroughly recovering the appropriated assets. However, the police agency has not yet announced the identities and specific actions of these people.

SJC Company is a 100% state-owned enterprise, under the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the financial report by the end of 2023, SJC's net revenue from gold trading activities in the year reached VND 28,408 billion, an increase of nearly 5% over the previous year.

Because the cost of goods sold accounted for VND 28,166 billion, gross profit was more than VND 241.6 billion (VND 8 billion lower than last year).

Excluding other expenses, the company reported pre-tax profit of nearly VND88 billion.

SJC is a 100% state-owned enterprise, under the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. The company is the only unit licensed by the State Bank to exclusively produce gold bars from 2014 to present.
